Blue plumbago, or leadwort, (Ceratostigma plumbaginoides) is an unaggressive ground cover with very blue flowers over a long season: late June through early September in Georgia. It has beautiful red fall foliage.

in well-drained soil. It grows to a height of 12 inches. It's great for overplanting spring bulbs, usually emerging after the bulbs have finished, and underplanting roses and lilies.

Leadwort is hardy into Zone 6 with winter mulch.
