A little bit about our group...

Heartstrings is a small, but growing group of ladies in central Mississippi who are working to promote tatting as an art form and helping others to appreciate tatting and learn to tat.

We started meeting in the Fall of 1999, and we've been meeting about every two weeks ever since, with anywhere from 8 to 20 attending. Our group started with the four founders featured on this site. Thara and Emilee met on email lists, I put ads in the paper seeking tatters, and Sheila learned from me at work on a lunch break.

The oldest member of our group has been tatting over 30 years and we have two members under 18.

We have had a display at our local library, been featured in a full page newspaper article, and demonstrated at 2 old time festivals. There are no words to describe how excited we are about our growing group!

I've been tatting since 1998, and don't have a lot in my gallery because I usually give my tatting away before I can scan it! I've given away most of the things that I've tatted, and the biggest item I've tatted is a baby bonnet. My favorite things to tat are baby booties and bookmarks, but I love trying new things, too.
