| 'Insurgence', Episode 2.12 Synopsis: When Lex learns that Lionel has installed hidden cameras in the mansion he hires some thugs to bug Lionel's office. When the thugs run into Martha and Lionel they are taken hostage and the situation gets out of control, Martha discovers that Lionel has been investigating Clark as she finds bars of meteor rock, a file on her son and the octoganal disc to Clark's craft in Lionel's safe after the thugs open it. Clark seizes his chance to save his mother and does a running jump from atop the Daily Planet into LuthorCorp. |

Dr. Walden falls into a coma as he places the key into the cave wall. |

| 'Calling' + 'Exodus', Episode 2.22-2.23 (Season Finale): Clark kisses Lana which hints at a promising future but when Chloe finds out Lana pulls back. Dr. Walden awakes from his coma and starts muttering the words 'The Day is Coming' which Clark hears again from an unknown source. Dr Walden tells Lionel and Lex that Clark must be destroyed. A sense of forbbiding surronds Smallville as Clark decides to leave Smallville. Chloe accepts Lionel's offer to investigate Clark as Clark turns his back on his friends, family and future in the final moments of the season finale. |
