I was captain my senior year.
College/Occupation: 3 years at Western, 2 years at UW
(with a quarter at the University of Swansea in Wales, U.K.) - got my B.S. in
Civil Engineering and am now working as a Transportation Engineer doing projects
for the Dept. of Transportation and Sound Transit.
Have you been
playing any basketball (i.e. college, intramurals, 3 on 3)? I
played intramurals all throughout college, and while I was in Swansea, I played
on the university team there.
Tell us what you've been doing? Well let's see...before
I got out of college, I spent a few summers in Maine teaching math and supervising
the girl's dorm at a boarding school. When I was studying in Wales, I toured
around the U.K. every chance I got, and then for christmas break, my boyfriend
Paul came and met me in Paris and we spent 2 weeks traveling around Europe.
Since I've started working, I've managed to do a little more traveling - Alaska,
San Diego, the San Juans, Las Vegas, New Orleans and Florida. I just did the
Danskin Triathalon a few days ago - 1/2 mi. swim, 12 mi. bike, & 2.6 mi.
run I think. It was awesome! Even though I can't swim worth beans, it was a
very inspirational experience and I highly recommend it to everyone! Plus it
raises money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. I helped Bryan
Howisey coach the 8th grade Thunderhawks last winter, which was quite a blast!
:) I've been playing on a co-ed soccer team on Sunday nights for the past year
or so. I've taken a few yoga classes and love it, but am having trouble finding
a place (and the time) to do it regularly. Just this summer I decided to go
back to school to get my masters degree in secondary education so I can teach
math and maybe coach basketball someday.
Favorite MTHS basketball highlight: Spending the night
in the MTHS gym with all 3 girl's basketball teams, We watched pistol pete (my
favorite basketball movie of all time) and then practiced pistol's moves til
the early hours of the morning.
Best book
I have ever read: Little Altars Everywhere by Rebecca
Wells
Favorite food: TCBY!! (frozen yogurt) and anything with
lots of yummy vegetables in it!
My favorite movie: I can never remember movies very well.
I like Beaches alot, and Life is Beautiful made me cry like crazy. Forest Gump
and American Beauty were pretty good too.
My favorite TV show: I don't really watch TV, but I did
sort of get hooked on Roswell.
Favorite actor: Don't have one. They all make way too
much money for me to give them too much of my attention. But Paul Rudd is pretty
darn cute.
Favorite actress: Ditto. Although Rosie O'Donnel seems
pretty down-to-earth.
My favorite musical group: Tracy Chapman, Ani Difranco,
and the Dave Matthews Band
Favorite sport other than basketball: Soccer
The best advice I ever received was: Always, always have
confidence in yourself. It makes ALL the difference!!
If I could
invite three people to dinner in history, they would be:
That's tough one - I guess Johannes Brahms, Ghandi, and the Dalai Lama.
The place I would most like to visit: Oh, too many!! Thailand,
India, the
Carribean, Nepal, Austrailia, Spain, Prague, Brazil, Costa Rica, Egypt, etc.
etc.
The favorite place I've visited: Venice and Maine
Hobbies: biking, backpacking, hiking, camping, running,
soccer, basketball (coaching & playing), rollerblading, yoga, kickboxing
if i'm feeling really ambitious, traveling, reading, watching movies, and occasionally
playing my violin and piano.
