Have you been playing any basketball since high school (i.e.
college,intramurals, 3 on 3)? Yes Everett Community
College - Everett Junior College at the time. 63/64 and 64/65
Tell us what you've been doing since graduation? Went to college did not finish, worked various jobs, went back to college, left to get married. Worked, raised my children, got divorced, went back to school and graduated. Now I am teaching in Istanbul, Turkey. I have raised the 3 children successfully and have 2 grandchildren.
Where and what age level have you coached? I have coached at all age levels - the last two years I was the Varsity Girls Head Coach at The American Community School in Beirut, Lebanon. I have coached in grade schools, high schools, middle schools and recreation leagues for over 30 years.
How
is girls basketball different today from when you played? When
I first started playing basketball there were 6 girls on each team, 3 forwards
and 3 guards. Each team had 3 players at each end of the court and no one could
cross the half-court line. Then the game progressed to where each team had a
"rover" this person could cross the half-court line and play at both
ends. (I was the rover on my team) A high scoring game could be 12-6 (I believe
that is the score we last beat Edmonds by) The game has change immeasureably
since then, it is much faster, more aggressive, much more scoring and many more
types of offenses and defenses.
