Chapter Twenty Six
Warm caresses and gentle touches. Feelings she thought she'd never feel again. Safe, warm, happy. It was too much to hope for. How long would the feeling last? Could she make it last? She turned, her mind covered in the mist of her dream and wrapped her arms around her pillow, so warm.
Nick held her tightly and smiled. What would happen when she woke up? Would she regret it? He frowned and snuggled under the covers, pulling her closer to him. If he could absorb her and make her part of him he would. He looked at her worriedly, these feelings were not new to him. He just wasn't expecting it to happen again, not after his last girlfriend. He didn't even want to think about her. He shifted and sighed, closing his eyes. He didn't have to think about it now, not until he found out how she felt. Then he'd know if he should tell her.
Alecia sighed and slowly opened her eyes. She stretched out and looked next to her to find a pair of blue eyes staring down at her. She blinked and looked around, sitting up quickly. She looked down to see the sheet around her waist and that she was naked up top. She let out a startled gasp and pulled the sheet up around her. She heard a chuckle and she turned to look at Nick who was smiling sweetly at her.
"What's so funny?"
"You are sweetie. Here." He stood and brought a tray over to her. "Back up a little, I want to put this on your lap."
She looked at him before slowly backing up on the bed as he came to sit in front of her, placing the tray on her lap. Nick smiled and whipped the cover off.
"Oh wow! Breakfast."
"Yeah, I hope you like pancakes."
"Sure do, although don't tell Kris. She gets so upset if someone eats pancakes other than hers." Alecia smirked. Nick laughed and took the syrup and poured it over the pancakes and took her fork and knife and cut it, holding a piece up to her lips.
"Here you go..." He whispered.
"Nick, I can feed myself you know."
"I know. But I want to, so let me."
"Fine." She leaned forward and took the food off the fork and chewed. "Ohh this is good...mmmmm..." She moaned. "Kris is gonna kill me, but I don't care." She looked over at Nick. "Are you ok?"
"Huh?...yeah...yeah, I'm fine." He groaned, clearing his throat.
She reached for the fork and he pulled away. "Nope, I'm doing this."
"Nick! Really, I feel silly letting you feed me."
"Oh live with it." He laughed, placing the fork up to her lips again.
She sighed and took the food off the fork again, chewed and swallowed. She was about to wipe her mouth when suddenly Nick's lips covered hers. She moaned softly as he pulled away.
"Mmmmm, you taste sweet."
"Y-yeah..." She mumbled, looking down.
"Something wrong baby?"
"N-no, it's just...I'm thinking that's all."
Nick swallowed, damn. Bad things happen from thinking too much. This couldn't be good.
"Thinking about what?"
"About...what happened last night."
"Oh..."
"Yeah, I just don't...I mean. I know what it means."
"What does it mean?"
"Look Nick I'm not stupid. I know what your whole reasoning was from the minute you met me and you did it. Took you longer than expected, but you did it. You got me into bed and now it's over. It's ok though, I'm not mad and I'm not going to judge you, it's just as much my fault. So I'm just gonna gather my stuff and leave." She finished, starting to slide out of the bed when Nick stopped her.
"Wait a minute. Over? What's over? And what the hell about me just wanting to get you into bed?"
"Nick, just stop ok. I know. Can you honestly tell me that wasn't your intent when you started? May not have been later on, but it was in the beginning."
Nick looked at her and sighed. She nodded and slid out of the bed and grabbed his robe and picked up her clothes and headed into the bathroom. Nick watched her leave and he sighed. He was gonna loose her. He got up and stood by the door and waited for her to come out.
Alecia stared at her reflection in the mirror. Something was different, she had this...this glow to her. And she felt different, she felt almost happy. She groaned and splashed water on her face. She still couldn't believe what had happened. She'd promised herself she'd be different, that she wouldn't let him get to her. But he had, he'd broken down all her walls and gotten through. What scared her most of all was that she wanted last night to happen, she'd wanted it so bad. She didn't know she'd wanted him so badly. He did everything right, he knew just the right way to touch her, the right things to say. He really was experienced for just being twenty. No one she'd ever been with had been so gentle so, caring. A girl could get used to that. It was too bad that he didn't want anything else. It was too bad that she didn't either. She smiled in remembrance and finished getting dressed, wiping at the tears before heading out the door.
Nick stood as the door swung open and she stepped out. He grabbed her around the waist and pulled her to him, kissing her fiercely. He wanted her again, and again. He slowly picked her up and let her slide down his body, pushing her back to rest on the bed. He heard her whimper, and he kissed her again as he felt her arms wrap around his waist. He pulled away and looked at her to see tears streaming down her face.
"Alecia, baby...what? What's wrong?"
"Nick...damnit, this isn't right. I can't do this, I can't just be some fling. Well I guess it's too late for that. I should've thought about that before....Nick I'm sorry." She whispered.
"I'm not. I'm not sorry for anything that happened and I wouldn't trade it for the world."
Alecia sniffled and closed her eyes, she felt Nick wipe at her tears and she slowly opened her eyes and looked at him one last time before sliding out from under him, gathering the rest of her things and walking out the door.
