Chapter Thirty

Nick grabbed some towels and his stereo and headed down to the pool. He had to think. It was too late, he'd had his chance and now it was gone. There was nothing he could do. He stepped into the elevator, his heart wouldn't stop aching for some reason. The doors opened and he made his way over to the pool area. He could remember when he was here last, she had been here. She looked so beautiful in her bathing suit. It'd hugged her body in just the right way. She was so perfect, everything about her. He remembered the night before, how she felt beneath him. She was so soft, so warm. He'd never experienced anything quite like that and knew he never would again. He set his things down at one of the tables and plugged his stereo in and walked over to the side of the pool, sitting on the edge. He only needed one more chance, a chance to tell her how he felt. The guys had been right, he'd fallen but she didn't want him. She wouldn't let him in. He needed her so badly and now she was leaving him. How could he make her see, what could he do? How do you catch a falling star? The phrase had always seemed so silly to him, but now he understood. He understood what it was like to want something so bad, something that was so out of reach and so out of your league that the longing made you want to scream out in pain. he was all he thought about now, she was all he thought about as he stood. She was his last thought as he went to move and slipped, banging his head on the side of the pool and falling into the water, the blood tainting the calm stillness. She was his last thought.
