"What did you say?" Brian was incredulous.
"I said, 'he's with me.'" Nick got up and set the bottle on the dresser.
"But, Ah thought you were in love with me?"
"Yeah, well, I guess I wasn't after all. Funny, I never imagined that the one for me was some freaky, tattooed, pierced boy with *waaaay* too many hats." Nick pressed his forehead against the mirror, hoping the coolness of the glass would make his head stop swirling with the images that he had witnessed earlier.
"Ah don't believe this." Brian sank onto the bed. "Ah've wanted AJ for so long, loved him for so long." He tried to explain his actions, tried to explain himself to the one man he thought might understand.
Nick turned around, crossing his arms over his chest as he stared at the man who had been his best friend for over eight years. "What are we gonna do?"
"AJ has to choose who he wants to be with. Ah love him, and Ah want him, but Ah can't make this decision for him."
"And if he chooses me?" The words hung in the air, heavy with happiness of two hearts hanging in the balance.
"Ah don't know." Brian looked up at his friend, his blue eyes searching Nick's for an answer, a way to solve this dilemma, anything. He only found fear and confusion.
Sighing, he stood up and quietly left the room. When he was alone again, Nick walked over to the window and stared out over the city. He couldn't even remember where they were, which seemed pretty bad when it looked like he was going to lose his heart there.
So intent on staring out the window, he didn't notice the door open or the figure walk up behind him. Long arms reached around him, and a cheek was pressed against his back.
"What's wrong, babe?" The words traveled out on a warm breath that brushed across his skin, making him shiver in response.
"I saw you this morning."
The arms tightened their hold for a moment before they loosened and dropped away. Nick turned around and watched as AJ flopped onto the bed and stretched out.
"Brian was here earlier. You have to choose, Aje. You have to choose which one of us you want."
Licking his lips, AJ smiled gently. "But I want you both."
