"God, no!" Jessie yelled.
She turned and burried her face into Lance's chest and he slowly brought his arms around her as her tears streamed down her cheeks and onto his jacket. Lance's eyes looked back to the window.
"...Matt."
"But...how? How are you still alive? We saw you...in space!"
"I...don't know," Matt replied, his uncertainty present in his adolescent sounding voice.
"Could you be an android, maybe?"
"I...don't think so. I feel human." Matt's left hand slid along the artery on the underside of his right forearm. "But humans can't survive in space, right?"
"Seems you don't know," he laughed. "The reason is simple, you were given something, something that keeps you alive. It was designed as a possible way to survive. Time and again you have used it to revive, to call on power to protect, even a shield to encase your body for those trips in the vacume of space. That is what we want. That is why we want you."
Matt's features twitched as they were sharply defined and poised in anger. "I don't care! That doesn't mean anything! I won't let you hurt them. To use them to get at me...it's beyond low!"
Deep laughter echoed in the darkness from the man. "So what do you plan on doing about it?" He asked with a smirk.
Matt let out a short growl of anger. He then let up, standing straighter with his eyes closed. In a level and measured voice he stated his intention, stifling his anger. "I'm going to take them from you." His eyes shot open and a smirk crossed his face as his hand moved to the hilt of his sword.
