Notes:
Note: Changed war from gret to strgl. (It may have been now at first, but I didn’t remember that…must have been a goof on my part in a word form…)
Note: The similarity to struggle is purely coincidental, strgl is formed from stro + gli, destroy great or great destruction. Though not always physically present in wars, it is always there in one form or another.
Note: Changed market from mech to meh.
Note: Changed holy from hoy to hoel.
Note: I have a carry over word from one of “his” languages, see if you can spot it.
Note: Doh (do) can be mixed to mean doing or the act of doing as in dohstrgl, doing war, though cret (make/create) can also be used as in cretstrgl, making or creating war. Cretant means creator or maker and can be anything from an inventor to a smith to the creator of the universe. Kinda vague, eh? But that’s why it’s a “primitive” language… Having a word start with doh is basically the same as adding ing to the end in the English language for what does ing mean but doing whatever the word is? (Laughing, doing laugh, making, doing make…sorta crude, but that’s what it means.)
You may notice some of the words get their origins from our English, this is because I’m new at this. Note ar (pronounced airr-eh) for sky/air, fuf for soft (fluff), rk for hard (rock), and similar things. This is just the way I work and considering this IS my first attempt, I consider excusable, at least until I revise the language.
Now that we have a basic-basic list, let’s try a few combinations. How about the word run? Notice it’s missing from my list. Try this: dohfsa, do fast. If you want to make it clearer, how about fsavom, to move fast? Okay, needs a little work, but we could actually come up with basic sentences with this…which is also a good way to test the language and see what words it needs.
Let’s try “The sun rises in the morning sky.” The key words are SUN, RISE, MORNING, and SKY. I only have one of those here, so let’s see about coming up with the others. Okay, added earl, eva, and won. Now then, we still don’t have sun, but that’s not a problem, we’ll just blend gil (large/big/ect.) with el or lum (star or light, respectively.) Gilel translates to big star, and is useful enough for our purposes. Earl will suffice for morning, and we already have ar for sky. So all we need is rise. Okay, now we have lft. We can also merge it with vom for motion. So, “The sun rises in the morning sky” can be written (roughly) as “Gilel lftvom earl ar.”
Oh, remember now, no blends. Th sounds like t-hu, well, what the t in what sounds like, plus the h in hum. So ar, sky/air, doesn’t sound like the ar in star, but sounds MORE (not EXACTLY) like airr (yes, I did mean to type two r’s.) All vowels are treated as their short sounds (a-apple, e-egg, i-indian, o-ox, u-uhh.) So, blends don’t exist and vowels are short. Now then, this is when typing. I actually have my own alphabet. Let’s try another sentence so I can see some more words I’m gonna need.
“Go to the store.” Eash, there’s a couple. Go can be do…I guess, but I need a root for store or market…come to think of it, I need a word for store/put away/ect…this is more complicated then I thought… “Do t’ meh.”
How about hello? Earlget (early greet), bye is evaget. Warrior? Antstrgl, one who wars. Think about it, this isn’t as complex as some make it out to be, just takes a little imagination and effort…combing the words that is, coming up with the words is easy. : )
Need a word for history or ancient? Well, ancient can be said as gliearl (great [or greatly] before/earlier.) How about gilantstrgl? Great warrior. Hoylum, holy light. Pretty cool, huh?
Do you realize with my current bank (as of 10:41 PM, Monday, December 17, 2001, the possible combinations of my roots can form over a thousand words? Well, something like that, though not all of them would make sense…) Btw, for reference, I started working on this just a few hours ago. : ) Man but time flies when you’re having fun. : ) I REALLY like this, this is fun for me…why is that? Note, however, this is currently at the level of the most “primitive” of languages. I’m still working though (why shouldn’t I? This is fun!)
Okay, now something more foreboding. “The dark forces now stir in shadowy places.” DARK, FORCE, NOW, STIR, SHADOW, PLACE. Blk, fos, won, vom(move), drk, pas. “Blk fos won vom drk pas.” “Good will triumph over evil.” “Hoel w’l iwent yiv.”
Sliar Ellum…Silent-shining Starlight
Lumare…Silent light...well, light silent, but it works both ways. :D It’s Aug 28, 2002, btw.
