SHIP MODIFICATION/UPGRADE/REFIT COSTS AND TIMES

Modifications: Modifications are considered to be slight additions/improvements to an individual ship. They are only ONE alteration to a ship at a time. Some examples might be adding a cloaking device, increasing shield strength lightly (Say from 210 to 220), tweaking the primary power plant for a little extra power (Say from 52 to 54), etc. To modify a ship costs 25% of the original ships cost and takes 25% of the time of the original ships construction. All modifications MUST be approved by a game moderator.

Upgrades: Upgrades tend to be a large number of modifications done at once, usually to all the ships of that class. An upgrade would be three alterations at once. An example would be adding a shield upgrade (IE: From 210 to 220), and a beam upgrade (IE: Emitter strength from 20 to 24), a power plant upgrade (IE: From 52 to 54), etc, all done at once. Upgrades cost 50% of the original ship cost and take 50% of the original construction time. All upgrades MUST be approved by a game moderator.

Refits: Refits tend to be an upgrade of a ships systems as well as massive changes to integral parts of the ship. A refit would be 5 alterations done at once. An example would be adding a third nacelle, swapping out an anti-matter system for a quantum singularity system, etc. Refits cost 75% of the original ship costs and take 75% of the original construction time. All refits MUST be approved by a game moderator.

All modified ships require a 1 day RT shakedown cruise to get the new items integrated.

All upgraded ships require a 2 day RT shakedown cruise to get all new systems integrated.

All refited ships require a 4 day RT shakdown cruise to get all the changes and new systems integrated and working properly.

Borg ships do NOT require a shakedown cruise for any alterations.
