.Our Founding History.

In the fall of 1994, five young ladies decided to form a new sorority on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University. They formed Kappa Chi, a local sorority, in hopes of bringing a new national sorority to campus. In the Spring of 1995, this proposal was vetoed by the Panhellenic Council. This ended Kappa Chi, but not the hopes they had.
In January of 1996, a member of Delta Delta Delta, Melissa Barron, transferred to MTSU and decided to try to bring a chapter of that national sorority to MTSU's campus. When two ladies of Kappa Chi, Jessmyn Baker and Karri Guinn, heard about this, they joined. This time they were named Phi Chi after Melissa's TriDelta pledge class. Thus, Phi Chi Sorority was formally founded January 14, 1996. During the Spring semester, these ladies worked hard to promote the idea of a new sorority. Unfortunately, TriDelta turned down the invitation to colonize. This ended the one chance for the TriDelta member, but the others continued to push forward.
Finally, in April 1996, Panhellenic voted to open the expansion process. This was the official beginning for Phi Chi's quest for a new national sorority on MTSU's campus. Phi Chi continued to work hard in scholastics, community service, and the promotion of the Greek system.
In the spring of 1997, Panhellenic welcomed Phi Chi into MTSU's Greek system as an associate member of the Panhellenic Council. Currently, Phi Chi is a strong sisterhood of dedicated young ladies striving to reach their goals of building an even stronger sisterhood and improving their college and local communities.

.Our Philanthropic History.
Christy McDonough was initated with Delta Class as Sister # 48. Unfortuately we lost this sister at the young age of 19 during the Fall of 1998. She died from a fatal asthma attack. The sisters decided to chose the Breathe Better Foundation as our Philanthrophy then. The mission of the Breathe Better Foundation (part of the Dever Colorado Foundation) is to improve the quality of life of children and adults with asthma and allergies through patient-care, education, and community resources. We will always remember Christy and will continue to donate to the Breathe Better Foundation in memoriam of her.
