Australia Day 2000

On Jan. 26th, 2000 (Australia Day), I went out with Ron and his family and Rob (his brother) and his family.  We went to a forest near Jenolan Caves, about an hour and a half away from where I live.  You can see from the first photo that lots of land gets cleared, then regenerated.  We were travelling along all kinds of trails throughout the day and it was quite easy to get lost without a checking a map first.

The trees were blocking the road, so we had to reverse up several hundred feet and go a different way.

Ron's jeep crossing a small creek.

Ron had been here before when it was wet and he said it wasn't possible to go down then.  It was dry the day we were there, but I wouldn't have minded a little rain to make it interesting.  It was really rutted out.

This puddle came out of nowhere on the track, but it was pretty deep.  Made a nice mess of all our front ends.

My Vitara has a habit of getting mud all over it's front, while other trucks avoid it.  My engine bay was absolutely covered in muddy slop after that.
