Benjamin Thomas Fludd
Chief
Gunner’s Mate
From: Chipping-Under-Oakwood Shire
Age: 20’s-esque
Position: Chief Gunner’s Mate
Secondary positions: maintenance of the ship’s armory, Assistant Carpenter with “Beast” (my
brother-in-law),
co-interrogator with our good ship’s barber-chirurgeon and maker/maintainer/wielder of the
Captain’s Daughter...
oh, yeah, and master competitor of “Ship-Captain-Bosun”.
Parents: spawn of the infamous Fludd family (same mom, different dad (the Spanish bastard!)
Oh, well, mom liked him and I got this great hair...course, so did sis...what’s with that?)
Hobbies: fighting, gambling, fighting, singing, fighting, drumming, fighting, shooting, fighting,
stabbing, fighting,
drinking, fighting, swiving, fighting, eating...and...
(you guessed it)
fighting.
Associates: in addition to the ‘Dogs and his family (the Aldermen of the shire), Ben’s escapades
and professional
utility for violence have established connections with members of Her Majestie's court (including
one or two on
the Privy Council...anybody need a favor?).
Siblings: twin sister Eleanore Fludd, who hates being younger than me (watch out for the right
hook...cause she’ll
knee your goolies out from under ya’ while your watchin’...’course if ya guard your jewels,
your nose is paste...
damn I taught her good!)
Marital status: Bah! She got remarried and has hardly been seen in the shire, since...
of course we’re still married...details...I think I saw her at Court, calling herself Lady
Something-or-other.
Now, I’m just busy pining for Hester...and a share in the Galley-Asse!
Identifying quote: “Braaaaap!!!”
Pre-history: Being the second son, Benjamin was slated to enter the priesthood. Suicide being
the easy way out,
Benjamin skipped shire and hopped aboard a merchantman bound for the Indies. Years later he
returned to the shire,
miraculously the sole survivor of the last two ships that he was aboard. Laying hoards of
booty at momma’s feet
earned her forgiveness and support for my endeavors (and a useful allowance).
A few months of the peaceful life drove Benjamin back to the docks and he shipped aboard the
Rialto. After a
fruitless year aboard the Rialto, he left those pansies when the Dawn (The Black Dawn) was
captured...appropriated...
purchased a-sea (yeah, that’s it!). After the Chief Gunner’s Mate unexplainably took ill with
an acute case of severely
broken bones, his second (that be Ben) took his place. Ben has since been a one-man boarding-action
and the
number one fire-stick in that nasty little Polly’s arsenal (besides Polly, the walking cannon)...making
the Dawn
a sea-goin’ Spaniard’s worst nightmare.
