INTERVIEW with TAWNY HEATH!

MUEN: HI TAWNY! THANKS FOR DOING THIS INTERVIEW! IT'S AMAZING ALL THE ATTENTION YOU ARE GETTING AND YOU ARE ONLY 18! AFTER READING YOUR BIO, IT LOOKS LIKE IT ALL REALLY BEGAN AT THE AGE OF 3, (WITH THE DANCE, AND TV COMMERCIALS, ETC.) SO OBVIOUSLY YOU MUST HAVE HAD LOTS OF SUPPORT EARLY ON FROM YOUR PARENTS... HAVE THEY ALWAYS LENDED THEIR SUPPORT THROUGHOUT THE START OF YOUR CAREER?
TAWNY HEATH: My family has always supported me and I truly believe without the support they have given me, my career would not be where it is at today. My Mom started me in dance classes when I was three to try out something for me to do, I loved it and haven't stopped dancing since. From there I did commercials, television, and musical theatre and whatever it was I was doing I was always supported 100% and its still that way today.
MUEN: YOU ARE ORIGINALLY FROM BAKERSFIELD, CA... SO HOW DID YOU END UP IN SAN DIEGO? AND HOW DO YOU LIKE IT COMPARED TO BAKERSFIELD?
TAWNY HEATH: Yes, I am from Bakersfield. My dad got a job transfer when I was 12 and we moved to San Diego when I was in 7th grade. I remember being nervous going to a new school and being in such new surroundings, especially going from a small town like Bakersfield to a huge city like San Diego. I have grown to love San Diego. It's absolutely beautiful and there are so many things to do and see. I have made such great friends here in San Diego. Bakersfield has all the little places I grew up loving....certain parks, ice cream parlors, my favorite restaurants, lots of amazing childhood memories and best friends, things like that. So I don't think I could ever choose which one I like more. They are both home to me.
MUEN: TELL US ABOUT YOUR APPEARANCE ON "POWER RANGERS" AROUND THE AGE OF 8! HOW DID THAT OPPORTUNITY COME ABOUT? AND WHAT EXACTLY DID YOU DO ON THE SHOW?
TAWNY HEATH: The Power Rangers was so much fun. I remember being so excited having my own trailer with my name on it, and getting my hair and make-up done by someone on the set. It was like HUGE to me. I was younger than everyone and I really looked up to the other actors. They were all so sweet to me and made it such a fun experience. I was signed with a children's agency in LA who sent me out on auditions all the time. So thats how any of my commercials and modeling jobs were booked as well.
MUEN: YOU ALSO DID SOME MODELING FOR SUCH COMPANIES AS "JLO" (JENNIFER LOPEZ) AND OTHERS... AND WAS FEATURED IN THE 2007 SPRING ISSUE OF "SUPERMODELS UNLIMITED" AS THEIR "FUTURE RISING STAR..." ARE YOU STILL PURSUING A MODELING CAREER ALONG WITH YOUR SINGING?
TAWNY HEATH: I still model on the side and I love it and look forward to more modeling, but singing is my first priority. I have been able to model for really great people, and I have so much fun doing it, but music is where my heart really is.
MUEN: AT WHAT AGE DID YOU FIRST START GETTING INTERESTED IN SINGING? AND HAVE YOU HAD VOCAL TRAINING?
TAWNY HEATH: I have been intersted in singing my whole life. My Mom was a singer and has sang and performed for years. So music was always a big part of my childhood. I had always sang around the house growing up, and had a love for music. I first started performing in junior theatre when I was five. I was in the Wizard of Oz, and was in the Lullably League, and I had my first solo singing part. From there I was in numerous talent shows. I just have always loved to perform! I have had professional piano lessons and vocal lessons since 5 years of age. Also, my Mom has been very helpful with vocal training for me.
MUEN: HOW DID YOU FIRST GET INVOLVED WITH "TRILOGY PRODUCTIONS?" AND HOW DID YOU GET JEFF TIMMONS (98 DEGREES) TO PRODUCE YOUR VERY FIRST ALBUM?
TAWNY HEATH: I met Jeff Timmons through a mutual friend. Our friend set up an appointment for my Mom and I to meet him at a Starbucks in Newport Beach and I was so impressed by him. He was so nice and we decided that it would be cool if we started working together. Within 4 weeks I was in the studio recording my first demo No One Has To Know. Since then we have recorded 3 songs, and there are more in the works right now. Jeff not only has amazing vocals but he is also an amazing producer. I loved working with him and I am very excited to get back in the studio with him again. Jeff also has a show on VH1 reality series that is going to debut August 6th that I am excited to see.
I met Eddie and Andrew (Trilogy Productions) on myspace. Eddie contacted me about working together and my Mom and I met him in Pasadena, CA. He was such an awesome guy and he played me many of his songs that he had produced and I loved them all. Since then Eddie, Andrew and I have recorded 3 songs, and I am recording another one with them in about 2 weeks. They are GREAT guys!
MUEN: WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE ALBUM? AND WHERE IS IT AVAILABLE?
TAWNY HEATH: Right now my album hasn't been released and is in the process of being worked on. I am really anxious to get it out to the public. Everyday someone asks for my cd and even though I am very thankful I have a myspace music page that they can go to to listen to my songs, I will be very happy when my cd is released.
MUEN: WHO IS RAPPING WITH YOU ON THE SONG "BANDAID," WHICH IS MY PERSONAL FAVORITE?
TAWNY HEATH: Aww! Glad you like it! :-) Eddie and Drew from Trilogy Productions are both on BANDAID with me. When we were recording it we thought it would be cool if we added a guy to the song. Eddie was there and he has a nice voice so we decided to have him sing on it and he did a great job. His partner Drew is the voice you here in the intro of BANDAID as well as CLOSER and I'M HOT.
DID YOU WRITE THE LYRICS TO THE SONGS? OR DID YOU COLLABORATE WITH SOMEONE?
TAWNY HEATH: I was at the studio recording my song "I'M HOT" when Eddie played for me "BANDAID". It was a really cool song and some of it was written and the idea of the "BANDAID" had already been made. We sat down and finished writing the song together that night, and I went back into the studio a couple weeks later and recorded it. I enjoy writing or co-writing all my songs. Several more are being worked on right now as well as a ballad that I am very excited for.
MUEN: SO WE HEAR YOU LIKE TO COOK... WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD TO COOK? AND WHAT DO YOU GET ASKED TO COOK MOST OFTEN?
TAWNY HEATH: Its true, I love to cook. I started taking many baking and cooking classes with my Mom when I was about 15. I never went into it thinking I would enjoy it as much as I did. When I first started the classes it was a disaster!!! lol I was always ruining everything, and I didnt like how I was the worst in the class so I kept practicing and kept cooking. Eventually everything started working and I have even made some of my own recipes. I am so busy, but I like to cook as often as I can. I love cooking Italian food, and baking lots of desserts. My Mom's favorite is my Creme Brulee. Most everyone asks for my homemade Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Macadamian Nut Cookies, my Deep Dish Apple Pie and Sweet Potato Pie. When I go into the studio, I bring homemade cookies. My Mom and I love being in the kitchen together and even my younger brother Sean likes to help out. I think it is a great way to spend time together. For my last birthday, my Mom got up at 3 AM to make homemade bread for me to slice and make for French Toast. It had fresh berries all over it an it was seriously the best and thickest French Toast I have ever had!
MUEN: ARE YOU EVER CONFRONTED WITH THE "JEALOUSY ISSUE?" AND IF SO, HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT SITUATION?
TAWNY HEATH: If there are any jealousy issues, I am unaware of it. My friends have never acted jealous towards me ever, and I feel like they would never have any reason to feel that way. They have always been super supportive. I have really great friends. As far as outside of friends, if someone was jealous of me, I think it would just be silly. If they were jealous, then they just don't know me. I would wish nothing but the best for someone and I would hope that they would want the same for me. I have always had a very positive attitude and I really believe that anyone can make their dreams come true. Obstacles can be a good thing at times too, because then it just makes you stronger.
MUEN: WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR BIGGEST INSPIRATIONS WITH REGARDS TO POP AND R&B MUSIC?
TAWNY HEATH: I have so many inspirations. I really love Janet Jackson. I love how she perfom, and all of her songs are amazing. I also love Prince and Justin Timberlake. My Mom raised me on a lot of Motown and R&B music. I'm really familiar with music from my Mom's generation. I listen to all kinds of music at home. More inspirations are Aaliyah, Britney Spears, Beyonce, Ciara, and Fergie.
MUEN: YOU HAVE AN UPCOMING SHOW AUG. 31 AT THE "KEY CLUB" IN HOLLYWOOD... WHO WILL YOU BE SHARING THE BILL WITH? AND DOES ANYONE ACCOMPANY YOU WHEN YOU PLAY LIVE?
TAWNY HEATH: I am really excited for this show! I will be opening up for Sean Kingston. I have been rehearsing many hours and working really hard. I have back up dancers that are amazing, and I can't wait to perform. My family and lots of friends are going with me. From what I have been told there were originally 7 openers for Sean Kingston, but then they cut it down to just two openers and luckily I was one of them. AUDACITY will be going on first then I will hit the stage after them and then Sean Kingston goes on right after me. Ticket sales have been amazing. THANK YOU EVERYONE!
MUEN: WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO, WHEN YOU FIND TIME FOR YOURSELF?
TAWNY HEATH: Well I can ALWAYS think of something that I can do more for my career so rarely ever do something outside of my career. I think every moment I'm not busy working at my career is a moment I'm not getting ahead. When I do manage to get free time though, I love spending time with my family and closest friends. I enjoy the beach and going out to nice dinners, and of course I love shopping. :-) My family and I also love going to new places all the time and in San Diego there is always some fun events to go to and new places to see.
MUEN: ARE YOU IN A RELATIONSHIP? AND IF SO, IS IT DIFFICULT TO MAKE TIME FOR THEM, WITH ALL THAT YOU HAVE GOING ON?
TAWNY HEATH: I don't have a boyfriend or anything close to that right now. lol I don't really see how I would have the time. I know I could make the time, but I don't want anything taking my focus off my music. I have lots of guy friends, and thats exactly how I like it. I love going to football games and playing WII and just doing fun things with my guy friends. :-) I have fun hanging with the guys. I still get into eating contest with my brothers.
MUEN: DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER RECORDINGS PLANNED? OR ARE THERE ANY OTHER LIVE SHOWS COMING UP?
TAWNY HEATH: I have many new songs that I am working on, and I am really excited for all them. I feel like I grow musically with every new song I record. I will be releasing them on myspace soon. As far as shows, I have some shows being booked right now. I will be posting the shows very soon on my myspace calendar. I just toured for about 10 weeks all over the east coast, which was a really great experience. I'm really fortunate to have been able to perform so many places.
MUEN: ARE YOU SEEKING A MAJOR LABEL WITH YOUR SINGING? AND IF YOU HAD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN MODELING AND SINGING, WHICH WOULD IT BE?
TAWNY HEATH: Right now I am just working as hard as I can promoting my music and if that leads to being signed with a major then that would be great. I have met with a few labels of recent and I am just waiting to see where that may lead. It has to be right for all parties involved for me to sign. I would definitely choose singing before modeling. I love modeling, and I have had a blast getting to work with so many great people and I still want to model, but music is what I am really passionate about.
MUEN: WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SAY TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT YOU WITH YOUR MUSIC, AND WHO VISIT YOUR MYSPACE PAGE ETC.?
TAWNY HEATH: THANK YOU! The support I get makes all the difference. Whether it's from my amazing family, or from all the awesome people on myspace, its so nice to have people that are behind my music. It is because of everyone that supports me that makes this all worth the time and effort. The myspace comments are so sweet, and I always do my very best to get back to everyone. It helps keep me motivted and reading comments always puts a huge smile on my face. I think it is really sweet that people with their busy schedules still take the time to stop by and leave such supportive words.
MUEN: WHERE CAN PEOPLE FIND OUT MORE ABOUT YOU? OTHER THAN STREET TEAMS OR MYSPACE? DO YOU HAVE A WEBPAGE TOO?
TAWNY HEATH: I have a website under construction right now. (www.tawnyheath.com) My myspace (www.myspace.com/tawnyheath) is the best place to always read about whats going on with me and the best way to get ahold of me. On my myspace there are clickable icons to all my fansites and street teams that have been made for me. Everyone come hit me up on my myspace! :-)
MUEN: THANKS FOR THE INTERVIEW, AND HOPEFULLY WE CAN TALK AGAIN IN THE FUTURE!
