Shofar, So Good: Thursday, August 29, 2002 A table at Shriver where people could blow the shofar. My Rosh Hashanah card-making table became part of this table too, since it was such a success!
Happy New Year! Cake Table: Wednesday, September 4, 2002 Free cake?! You would think that students would love a little morning pick-me-up, but believe it or not, they were scared of free cake-who would’ve guessed? In any case, a hit, especially when the cake was donated by the catering department.
Breast Cancer Awareness Table: Monday, October 28, 2002 Over 300 Miamians wore a pink ribbon that day…
Cookies on the House: Wednesday, September 18, 2002 What do Sukkot and cookie decorating have in common???
Edible Dreidel-Making: Tuesday, December 3, 2002 A marshmallow, pretzel stick, some peanut butter (or icing for those who are allergic to nuts!) and a hershey’s kiss, and what do you get? Edible dreidels! This was a fun table to do and I sat right across from some brothers of Fiji, who were doing a charity fundraiser by the Shriver food court as well. They were definitely fond of my edible dreidels and a few were even Jewish!
“Candy & Condoms”: Friday, February 14, 2003 Slightly controversial table, I handed out candy, condoms and “Ohaveem oti” pins, or
Happy Purim Table: Tuesday, March 18, 2003 Can you say “Free fruit-filled cookie!” five times fast? Dressed as Queen Esther, I passed out free Hamentaschen at Bell Tower and some info about the holiday of Purim. It was cool to see non-Jewish students say "can I take one for my roommate? He's Jewish!"
April Fools!: Tuesday, April 1, 2003 I never knew how April Fools Day started, but after this table, I did! After a rough morning of being dooped by Paula (who said my tire was flat!) I decided I was not going to fool others, but inform them of the history of the day itself. Many were interested. This was also a great way to talk to students about their upcoming Passover plans.
Yom HaShoah Table at Bell Tower: Tuesday, April 29, 2003 341 yellow ribbons in memory of those we lost…
Rosh Hashana Card-Making Table: Tuesday, August 27, 2002 This was held outside of Shriver, and people could stop by and make a Rosh Hashana card for Jewish hospital patients in Cincinnati. I had cut-outs of apples, honey, shofarim, etc. This was a great way to 1) perform a

Everything when you’re tabling! For this table, people stopped by to decorate free house-shaped cookies (even though they came out of the oven looking like mushrooms!). While they decorated, we were able to tell them about the significance of the houses, or huts that we put up commemorating Sukkot.
Happy Challahween! October 30, 2002 I never knew there was so much behind the significance of challah! Dressed up as Super Woman, I gave out free challah at Shriver and was the

candy Torahs! I created little cardboard Torahs, with a brief explanation about Simchat Torah and then taped on “candy scrolls” to the sides. They were a big hit, and a fun way to educate students about the holiday!
