The First Day

Mugen High wasn't our first school. We went to a tiny school before it. The school was over 50 years old, and much too small for our growing community. Production of a new school began. It would be extremely large and advanced. We were all very excited. It opened late. Our first day was Monday, April 9, 2001. We are both Sailormoon fans, and noticed the school's resemblance to Mugen High. We joked that our principal was Dr. Tomoe, and the vice principal Kaorinite. We almost burst out laughing when the announcements came on. The principal spoke just like Tomoe! The bell system was malfunctioning, and we deduced that the Outer Senshi had done it to sabotage Tomoe's efforts. They announced that at lunch, we would have to line up. Some people would have to eat in the gym. Why was that, we wondered. The school was large enough for us all to eat without a hitch! It must mean that the purest students will have their pure hearts removed in the gym, their empty bodies possessed by Daimons. It started out as a joke, but the coincidences gradually grew creepier and creepier. The P.A. at this school makes a beeping noise before an announcement. A beep went off for a really long time. You could hear struggling, then it turned off. Maybe the Outer Senshi tried to warn us, and were silenced? We went outside to find a white minivan in the parking lot. It looked exactly like Eudial's. A technician was loading stuff that looked almost exactly like Mimette's Daimon briefcases inside. We met up with a freaky science teacher and a teacher who seemed to be obsessed with plants. Viluy and Tellu, we suppose. Next on the Witches 5 was Mimette, a young, energetic teacher. Inside, we went on a tour of the school. A kid we know named Graham, who is amazingly smart and funny, (he has the first 40 digits of pi memorized!) was constantly being praised by teachers all day. They don't normally. Although he does well in school, he's pretty hyper and a real troublemaker. We feared he would be the first target. The gym was huge, but it felt ominious. I guess because we knew it would be the first pure heart swiping spot. A button had been ripped out quite primitively, leaving wires sticking out. It had to be the button to access the heart swiping machine, and the Outer Senshi had stopped it. We went by the office. Graham was asked in for no reason, just as we had predicted. He came out with a Daimon briefcase, which was placed in our homeroom. It was never opened, and mysteriously disappeared a week or so later. The moment of reckoning came too quickly. We were called down to the gym. With a final goodbye, we were led to the gym to have our pure hearts stolen.
