The Mule Info Page
Information for all you model and real longear enthusiasts from the American Donkey and Mule Society.

FLASH - Expanding with some color genetic information as well!

I get called the mule guru - not my favorite nickname, but it works for this particular site.

On this site I have some black-and-white pictures of mules
to show various body types, conformation, and color patterns. Sorry they aren't all in color, but our scanner simply refuses to get the color photos right.  Anyhow, you model gals (and guys) seem to understand the color basics of horses and longears a lot better than most.  So I will just include notes about the base colors in the text and let you go from there.  Remember though, the most common colors for mules are dark brown, black, bay, and chestnut.  If they have a buckskin or palomino dam, you may find buckskin mules.  A very few are palomino, and we even have pink-skinned, blue eyed white mules from solid and spotted parents.  If you are ever in doubt as to a possible color combination, or a pattern of white spotting, feel free to contact me at sandar@msn.com

Thanks for looking!

Remember, these photos remain the property of ADMS and are used for you to see patterns and examples only.  You may NOT post these in other locations such as online albums.  If you wish to save them for personal use, please contact ADMS for permission and site the exact website and image name.  We will inform you if permission can be granted for personal use (such as a school report) or not.  Thanks.

I've made 3 trips to France so far to see the magnificent Mulassier horses and the Baudet du Poitou donkey.  I love being able to share the photos with everyone, adn the web is the best place ever to do it! .  My favorite horse color is blue roan, so imagine how I felt when I saw this darling tucked into the trees at the Concours. Just needs a fairy or two fluttering around her head!  Wish she could have come home with me!

I am adding in pictures of the other French Breeds on the various color pages - Gray and Chestnut will have several.  Some of the French heavy horses are amazing.  There is a lot of difference between American and French Percherons, too!  If anyone has a good photo of an American Perch I can post here, I would appreciate it.  I can get one in March but I'd like more for comparison!

Thanks,

Leah
