A little xp tweak here, window tweak there and it will be running like the old machine your brought home. In fact, with a speed optimizer you can actually have your computer speed running faster than it did when it was new! You could do this manually but first you'll need to learn what the pc settings do and how to change them and which ones to change. It's not something the average PC owner can or should attempt. Heck, I've been working with and on computers for almost 20 years and I wouldn't waste my time trying to do it manually when there are speed optimizer packages on the market that will do it all for you with just a few mouse clicks. Some other things to look at for a computer speed up is hardware upgrades and changes. Hardware upgrades and changes will cost you a lot more money then pc booster software. I wouldn't waste a lot of time on a new motherboard and/or CPU. They can be just a lot of work getting everything back in the computer case and working correctly. Adding a faster hard disk will help but then you need to move the data and install all those progarms. . . . ugh! Adding more memory which is pretty cheap right now is a good idea. Windows loves memory!!! However, the best bang for the buck is to start with pc booster software first.
