If there is one single event that encapsulates everything that we have tried to express on this site, it is the Night of 100 Elvises. Held annually the first Friday and Saturday of December at the Lithuanian Hall in Baltimore Maryland, it is a benefit for the Johns Hopkins Hospital Children's Fund. Each night more than 20 acts appear on stage performing exclusively Elvis' material. There is a healthy dose of tribute artists as well as bands than span the entire musical spectrum. No songs are duplicated over the course of the night. In addition to the performers there is an Elvis ice sculpture and memorablia on display, and plenty of food and drink, including the potent Lithuanian liqueur Viryta. Upstairs from the main hall is the Jungle Room, with two bands that take turns playing all night in a nightclub setting. Downstairs is the Elvis lounge with a bar where many of the artists perform after their turn on the main stage. While the bands and singers are busy on stage, one needs only make their way through the crowd of smiling faces to be equally entertained. Many attendees arrive in full regalia and are as much of an attraction as the performers on stage. Elvis wigs, beehive hairdos and sunglasses are de rigeur for those who want to be part of the fun.
