categories: an explanation of

1.
action/advent
Swords, chases and treasure chests.  Indiana Jones did it best.  Well, for the sake of our hero, we'll agree Rick O'Connell did it best, shall we?  Anything with a note of  exploration, discovery and heart-pounding action should be sent to this section!
2.
alternate u/r
For every action we perform, there is spawned another universe in which that action never happened. Or so the theory goes.  This can be from the very minimal question of "what if" ( ie: what if Alex had been a year younger in TMR?) to the bigger ones (ie: what if Imhotep had been a woman?)  Also includes stories where our characters are placed in totally different situations (ie: Evelyn and Rick were lovers in Greece in the 60's).
3.
angst
Who can resist a good sob story?  These stories involve tears, fears and gut-wrenching pain.
4.
crossovers
What could be better than pitting Ardeth against Sauron or Evy against Angelus?  Any stories containing other fandoms go here!
5.
dark
When tragedy and angst aren't enough, look no further than the darkest of the dark.  Most of these stories will be rated R or above, and include dark themes such as drug use, heavy violence, abuse, disturbing scenes and the more shady areas of sexuality.
6.
drama
Stories from the heart?  Soap-Operas?  Stories that focus on touching the readers emotionally.
7.
humor
Stories that focus on what else?  Laughter!  From parodies to dark comedies, if it's funny, it'll be here.
8.
hurt/comfort
This is angst, but with a twist.  Angst and comfort from angst!  Woohoo!  All you Ardeth Bay lovers out there, who like seeing our Med-Jai banged up and taken care of by a woman/friend/enemy, this is the section for you.
9.
plot-what-plot
Who said stories had to have plots anyway?  These are stories that don't have a great big plot arc, but merely focus on those special little (usually sexy) moments in life.
10.
poetry
Not directly stories, but dedications to our favorite characters.  Short poems, long epic poems, all done in beautiful language and imagery.
11.
point-of-view
These are stories told by the characters themselves, from their thought point and  colored by their opinions and sense of onjectivity.  Just how did Imhotep see the events that transpired in The Mummy, anyway?  He probably thought of himself as the victim.
12.
romance
Ah, romance.  Who needs an explanation?  Stories about love and sex and did I say looooove?  From fluffy stories to heart pounding lust, it's found here.
13.
suspense/mys
Edge of your seat stories that keep readers guessing and wondering and dying to see what in the world is going to happen next should be found here.
14.
tragedy
Every once in a while there will come along a character death or a terrible, grievous and not-so-temporary wound or a distaster that kills masses.  These types of stories go here.
15.
other
Anything else, from lists to drinking games, songs, fics that feature real-life characters and more.
16.
subtext
Maybe Ardeth and Evy got a little sparky.  Maybe they didn't.  Not blatant romance, but definitely opens the window of possibility.
