Indoor Activities

Kazza's Fun House, Liverpool, Cnr Campbell & Macquarie Streets - Phone: 9821 4982. Great place for a kid's party, rainy day or a treat! All-over indoor play centre with jumping castle and soft-indoor play stuff, also has craft and dancing/music. Open daily, with $5 for the day.

Kidmania at Bankstown, Bankstown Square next to Pumpkin Patch - Phone: 9793 7577. Another indoor play area for kids with climbing maze, jumping castle and separate areas for toddlers and babies. Cafe for the waiting parents too! What more could you ask for!

Adventure Parks & Rides

Steam Train at Prairiewood. Each Saturday just behind Fairfield Markets (Markets are at Fairfield Showground, Smithfield Road, Prairiewood). $2 per ride - must wear closed shoes (no thongs, sandles etc). This is a great ride - goes around the circuit twice, and kids (especially if they are into Thomas the Tank Engine) love it! Mine does! The Train Shed at Luddenham, at Vicary's Winery, The Northern Road. Admission is free and the rides on either James, Thomas & Toby are $2 each. There is also a model train set up of Thomas, James & Percy. A kiosk and BBQs are also available. Open every day during the holidays. Reviewed by Nataliewoods2000 8/4/2000

Swimming & Picnics 

Sydney International Aquatic Centre at Homebush, Olympic Boulevard - Phone: 9752 3666. Indoor heated pools, catering for babies & toddlers with wading pools and splash pools, for older kids water slides and larger pools. Also available is childminding, sauna, gym, aqua classes, locker hire. Outside is a large garden with seating with umbrellas. There are lots of food options available - upstairs a cafe, downstairs a takeawaay with indoor seating. Swimming classes also available. This is part of the Olympic Site so you can get the train to here too. Cost: General Admission $2.50, To Swim & Spa Adults $5, Child (4-15) & Student $4, Family Pass (2 Adults 3 Children or 1 Adult 4 Children) $16. Reviewed by Nataliewoods2000 8/4/2000

Fairfield City Farm at Abbotsbury, 31 Darling Street - Phone 9823 3222. A great spot to see both farm animals and native animals. There is a nursery section where the animals can be hand fed, join the farmer on his rounds to feed the others, watch the milking and shearing. Go on a tractor ride or pony ride (pony rides only on Market Days). Buy a bag of feed at the entrance and feed the ducks and kangaroos as well. Playground, picnic tables and babychange table in the toilets available. And restaurant with both eat-in and takeaway, with a kid's menu also available. This is a great day out and a quiet spot to introduce your kids to the animals. Phone before going so you know when the events are on. Open every day except Christmas Day. Craft Market Days are 3rd Saturday of each month. Costs: Adult $8.50, Child (2-17yrs)/Concession $5.50, Families (2 adults, 3 children) $22.50. Blue Gum Farm at Milperra, at Maxwell Avenue - Phone: 02 9774 3981. Open Mon-Fri 10-4, Sat & Sun 10-5. Plenty of animals here with feeding, milking and riding various different ones available, and picnic & bbq avail as well.
