The Makeup
Jellicle Cats Have Cheerful Faces!

MAKEUP - Well, I'll admit right now that I am hardly an expert when it comes to the fine art that is the application of makeup. Erikonil is the one who buys all the makeup and my patterns are basic. Other costuming kitties have better suggestions when it comes to what kinds of makeup you should buy or how to apply them. This page is mostly a resource for makeup patterns. I'll be trying to find good pictures of the cats from various productions, and sometimes a step-by-step application guide. If there's a cat you'd like to dress as, and you're having trouble finding pictures of the makeup, let me know and I'll see what I can dig up.

CATS makeup can range from the fairly straightforward and simple (London Alonzo) to the amazingly detailed (pretty much any Skimbleshanks). My advice to you is that you take some time to practice your makeup. Practice on someone else, or use yourself by looking in a mirror. I find that regular makeup pads, found in any place cosmetics are sold, are good for applying makeup to large areas, while paintbrushes of various sizes are good for the finer lines. Talcum (baby) powder is good for setting your makeup, but I use a makeup sealer. That is a liquid spray which you first apply to your skin, let dry, and then spray again after you finish your makeup. This will keep your makeup from running when you sweat or even (get ready for this) in the middle of a downpour! It's true. That happened to me. Not only does it work well, but it leaves you smelling minty! >^_^< One bit of equiptment that you should aways have on hand in your makeup kit is a small pot of cold cream (availible wherever cosmetics are sold) and tissues. If you don't have this, getting your makeup off can be a little painful.
