of egg decorating is centuries old. The Poles and other Eastern Europeans

Pisanki (or Pysanki) eggs adorned with very intricate designs.
Pisanki comes from thePolish word "pisac" which means "to write."
Raw eggs are used. The eggs are decorated by using a batik-method
of coloring, beeswax, anddyes. The beautiful, symbolic
painstaking designs are alwaysdone by hand.
