Polish
Holiday Customs
and
Festivals

Throughout  the world customs  have  been handed down from generation to generation.  They give  families continuity; they link us to our heritage. The great turning points in life, baptisms, weddings, and funerals are always marked with very special ceremonies and rituals that frequently have rootsin the traditions of our ancestors.

Many celebrations today combine old pagan beliefs and Christianity.  Festivals connected with the summer soltice and harvest are found in almost all societies, and in many cultures eggs represent rebirth and renewal.

Special holiday customs, celebrations and traditions sustained the Polish people for centuries.   Immigrants brought these treasured ways with them to their new countries.  They have left  their descendants a rich and unique legacy that should be cherished and preserved for generations to come.
