Zalipie, also known as the "painted village",  is near Tarnow.  The farmers' cottages inside and outside are painstakingly decoratedwith  colorful folk patterns.

Every summer in the month of June, Zalipie is the center of  one of the oldest folk art competitions in Poland.  Entries consist of approximately fifty cottages and farmyards in surrounding villages painted by folk artists.
