Sometimes test scores, movies, and map work may not be the only indicator of a student's performance. There are times when a student is close to the next grade level and only needs a small boost to reach the next level. To reach the next level an Extra Credit Assignment can be done. For most students writing movie quizzes will help the student. I have many movies from furry animals, historical events, geographic places, and physical things like rivers, the weather and climate, and earthwakes. Geography is a very broad topic. I do not care what type of movie you might use, but I might give suggestions on movies that can apply to materials we will cover in class.
Most of the movies run between 30 to 45 minutes each, but many run over an hour. What I want students to do is write a movie quiz. For each quiz 15 points will be given with a maximum of two quizzes. This can be with done with two 30 to 45 minute movies or one movie of an hour or more. I want 12 questions, for each 30 to 45 minute movie with 24 questions total. An hour movie can be 24 questions. If someone does a 30 to 45 minute movie one can have more than 12 and another can have less then 12 as long as the total is at least 24 questions.

This is college and most assignments should be
typed, computer text is the same thing.
I also want multiple choice questions and not
true false. I want four choices an A, B, C and D. You can add an E if you
want. The assignment should take about hour and half to two hours for each
assignment. (Sometimes the time is shorter other times longer.) If I have
used the film in class you cannot do use that movie, but if you do a movie
before one that I may use it is all right.
Sometimes the names and places in the movies are unfamilar try to get the spelling right. To help with spelling and other problems I sometimes have supporting materials. Your textbook can also help as supporting material depending on what movie you choose.
I put times on the questions so I can find them. Sometimes questions come quickly other times it takes some time. Questions should be spaced, remember the purpose of the film is for students to watch it and not fall asleep during the film. If you have a newer VCR you can put in the times but this is not required, but would help if I have to lookup questions.
Movies are the principal Extra Credit tool, but sometimes other projects can be done with the professor's approval.
