Dominion & Empire Turn 46
Turn 46
Imperial Income = 26216.8 Mcr
For the first time since this record was started, the Imperium's income has
shrunk. The canceling of the trade treaty by the Draconis Empire has caused
negative growth on our economy. We must strive to make up this shortfall,
with more efficient industry.
In better news, development of the Machine Shop module, and the Tractor beam
are completed.
An upgrade to the FT5 Builder class is created, replacing the Mobile
Shipyard with a Machine Shop

Six of these vessels are laid down, to augment the current construction
fleets.
Initial designs for a Tug type vessel are also created. The purpose of this
vessel is the movement of bases within a single star system.

Colonization continues, with the Blackfoot system gaining six million
colonists. Another million or so are spread out over the Imperium, to
various moons and asteroids.
Initial gravitic surveys are completed in the Bail, Manticore and Siebold
systems. A total of five additional warp points have so far been found..

In preparation for the arrival of Construction 02 in Niven, 12 prefab Nail
II bases are shipped from Codalus. Arriving late next month, they should
arrive approximately the same time as the construction fleet.
News reports arrive from our allies.
The Warlords of Zanzibar complete the needed research and development of
industrial and technological upgrades, necessary to understand the
technologies currently used by the Imperium. No longer bound to the single
planet they were born on, the Zanzibarians rejoice.
Work begins on Military and Commercial engines, with assistance provided by
our scientists.
The Chosen complete development of Multiplex tracking, and start to work on
the Courier Drone.
For both of our allies, the Imperium is providing large amounts of support
and assistance, including technical specifications ( for a fee ) and
scientific talent. Both out allies are grateful for this boot-strapping aid,
and send word that improving our current treaties is a distinct possibility.
No word from the Draconis Empire. No news is definitely not good news in
this case.
====================== Turn 47 ==============
Please note, this month's report was mostly written before the current spate of
interest in the campaign, so a few thing may seem a little out of order.

Turn 47
Imperial Income = 27019.8 Mcr
A good month for the Imperium.
The prototype Heavy Cruiser and FT6 hulls are completed, and preparations begin
to refit the CA vessel into a new deisgn

No plans are currently made to create a Command class of the CA, as the
Guderian class has proved sufficient for the current climate..
Our shipyards are currently full, with the refit to the Storm space station,
and the six Builder Mod 1 vessels currently under construction. These vessels
and refit should be completed withing two months, and at that time production
of the Pegasus class will begin. The delay also allows time for more technology
to be developed.
Our scientists report that sufficient new technology has been developed that an
upgrade to our industrial base is now possible. Work begins immediately on
this, although the cost is extreme, nearly 8000 Mcr.
A new technology is also suggested. Designated a "Laser Buoy", it is an
upgraded DSB, mounting a standard starship laser weapon. Due to the size of the
buoy, the weapon is powered by a nuclear device, detonated to power the buoy's
laser. This makes it a one-shot weapon, but enables this small, relatively
cheap weapon to have the same capabilities as a ship mounted laser.
A complemetary item, "DSB Control System" is also suggested, but funds are
tight this month, so only the laser buoy is funded.
6 Million colonists are shipped to the Hector system this month, to colonise
the various moons and planets there. This movement will finalise the
colonization efforts on systems within 2 warp links of Eternity.
Several of the Imperium's more experienced ship designers have come forward
with criticism of the FT Tug design. Mr's McNeely, Herene, and Foster have
produced a paper demonstrating the inadequacies of the design, and propose a
new concept.

A more balanced design, it will most likely be the chosen model.
Our survey fleets report in, with detailed warp point scans finished in Basil
( 4 additional warp points ) and Manticore ( 3 additional warp points ).
A rough survey of Siebold has discovered only one additional warp point.
Our Zanzibarian allies have begun research into many of the lower technology
items, including Shield generators, and Shipyard modules. We are assisting them
in their pursuits, with advice and practical knowledge.
The Zanzibarians are planning to start production of their first orbital
shipyards in the next few months. Though this will be a slow process, we have
agreed to lend some assistance, in the form of a FT builder vessel, to speed
the construction. We will release one such vessel in the coming months, after
the FT Builder Mod 1 vessels are completed, and can take over assembly duties.
The Chosen have completed work on the Communcations module, and start on the
basic point defense system.
The Chosen report an expansion of the freighter network, with ten new
frieghters laid down, for immediate leasing to the private sector. This will
expand both the cargo capacity of the Chosen, as well as provide additional
income.
Once again, we have no news of the Draconis Empire.
As a precautionary measure, plans are drawn up for the evacuation of the Niven
system. Thanks to the array of warp points leading from the the Niven system,
if the Draconis Empire attacks, at most 4 populated systems can be lost.
However, if the population of Niven is allowed to remain, there is an
overwhelming possibility of any hostiles gaining access to our astrogation
database.
If this occurs, we will have no natural defences against an aggressor.
