Dominion & Empires Turn 55-57 (long)

A few small turn reports, so I lumped them together.

==========================

Turn 55

Imperial Income = 28461 MCr

The restoration of the Imperium economy continues, with another slight rise
in overall funds. Colonization expands the existing population of Codalus
III, with another 6 million colonists shipped there this month.

With the completion this month of 17 Scipio Mod 2 CLs the order of battle
for the Liberation fleet is 80% complete. Next month construction of Caesar
Cls will finalize the fleet, with the following order of battle.

8 Pegasus Mod 1 CA
36 Scipio Mod 2 CL
1 Guderian Mod 1 CL (flagship)
13 Nelson Mod 2 DD

This fleet represents the strongest armada ever launched by the Imperium.
Surely nothing can withstand this concentration of force.
An additional 22 Discovery EX(ast) ships will be attached to the fleet, for
DSB clearance.
Another 5 SDB CTs are refitted to the DCS design, and sent to Epsilon
Eridani for defensive duties.

News from our allies is again sparse. The Chosen have nothing new to report,
while the Zanzibarians have completed work on their first orbital shipyard
complex.

TURN 56
Imperial income = 29981 Mcr

Our economy has reached the level of prosperity achieved before the Draconis
attack. To continue this trend, investment in Imperium industry, and
exploration to find new habitable planets is required. Therefore,
considering the newly developed technologies, a new survey craft is
required.

ES COLUMBUS class ES 12 Hull TL 3
[2] HH(BbL)(Ic)(ic)XXrQs [4]
12 RCP 13 MCP Trg:1 Cost = 168/ 25.2
HTK 8

The Columbus vessels, while utilizing a hull almost double the size of the
Discovery class, has twice the surveying speed, thanks to the advanced
sensor systems installed, and over three times the small craft capacity,
speeding planetary surveys correspondingly.
While unarmed, it will be escorted be a small armed group, most likely
composed of either Nelson destroyers, or smaller armed vessels.
25 of these vessels are laid down this month, and should be ready to begin
surveying within two months.

The Liberation fleet moves to Hector, and prepares for one month of drills
before attacking. The final order of battle is arranged, as follows :

8 Pegasus Mod 1 CA
37 Scipio Mod 2 CL
10 Caesar CL
1 Guderian Mod 1 CL (flagship)
14 Nelson Mod 2 DD
21 Discovery (ast)
2 Voyager Mod 1 ( scouts )

Already in place in the Hector system are the necessary defenses against a
Draconis counter attack. 500 laser buoys, with 5 DCS CTs commanding them,
are deployed around the Hector-Kowloon warp point. In addition, 19 EX(FT)
Discovery vessels, carrying over 1200 more laser buoys, are in-system, ready
to lay hasty buoy fields as the Liberation Fleet advances. More DCS vessels
are enroute, to control these hasty deployments, as soon are refits are
completed.

Another 10 DCS CTs are laid down this month, as the demand will grow, and no
bases are currently able to control the buoys.

From our allies, again the Chosen have little to report. The Zanzibarians,
however, have finished accelerated development of the Shuttle. With this
development, the Zanzibarians have developed all current tech items at their
current level of understanding, as have the Chosen. Until both nations
completed the needed upgrades to their technical and industrial bases, no
further item research can be undertaken.

TURN 57
Imperial Income = 32688 Mcr

Scientists report that the necessary upgrades to our economy and industry
are ready for implementation, and it is done immediately. This necessitates
a re-investment in the Imperium industrial base, 30% of the needed funds are
allocated this month.
This new industrial base has pushed the Imperium economy to it's highest
level every, with over 32,000 Mcr available for government usage.
The newly research base allows several ideas to be started with a relalistic
chance of success. Three new development projects are started this month.

The Enhanced Drive Missile is a defensive technology that creates a small,
short lived drive field, in most respects identical to the drive field of a
starship. By manipulation of the EDM drive field, incoming missile fire can
be detonated early, protecting the ship. The EDM is capable of "confusing"
30% of all incoming missile fire, for around 15 seconds. Due to the power
demands of creating the drive field, the EDM "burns out" within 15 seconds,
and self-destructs. It is also due to the power demands of the EDM that
causes the missiles large size. Far too large to fit into any internal
launchers we currently possess, the EDM must be placed on the XO racks., and
even then the missile takes the place of three other missiles. However large
the penalties, the enormous increase in ship survivability cannot be
ignored.
The Presser Beam is simple a tractor beam with reverse polarity. In effect,
the tractor beam pulls objects closer, while the presser beam pushes the
object away. Combining the two devices will serve to speed cargo delivery by
a large factor.
The Force beam is energy weapon similar to the laser. Based on the
groundbreaking work of the Tractor and Presser beams, the Force beam ignores
the internal linkages needed to focus on an object, and simply applies a
massive force to it. In effect, the Force beam "punches" the target with
enormous force. Unlike the laser, the Force beam does not concentrate it's
output enough to bypass shields. However, the havoc wrought by the Force
beam at close ranges is over 60% more than a standard starship laser.

Having completed construction this month, the 25 Columbus survey ships are
assigned to Survey 02 and sent to Centaurus to continue surveying. Also in
the yards this month are 25 Voyager class vessels, for refitting to Columbus
class. These vessels will form Survey 03 next month, and survey down the
Shaka warp line.

The Liberation fleet undergoes it's wargames training this month, and will
attack next month into Kowloon. C&C has been found to be a great trial, but
the Guderian command ship California has the necessary hardware built in to
ease the commanding admiral burden.

In the Zanzibar system, Construction 01 has completed it's assistance of the
Zanzibarian construction of a Space Station shipyard facility. The fleet
leaves for Heaven, to begin work there.
The Zanzibarians meanwhile have started construction of their first
space-going warship, a destroyer class.

DD ZEUS class DD (AC) 30 Hull TL 1
[3] H(I)(I)(I)L(I)L(I)L(I)RMg(I)LhQL [7]
30 RCP 20 MCP Trg:1 Cost = 368/ 55.2
HTK 16 Lx4 Rx1 Mgx1

In the opinions of the Imperium HQ, it is an unusual design, The total lack
of any defensive systems is a serious lack. When asked of these matters, the
Zanzibarians replied :

"Armor is for cowards, Shields are for weaklings. True warriors need no such
trappings."

Hopefully, after their first real battle, the Zanzibarians will see the
sense of our opinions.

The Chosen report finishing the needed industrial upgrades necessary to
continue their growth. We immediately offer to sell plans to them for new
technologies, and they accept, purchasing the plans for DSB control Systems,
Laser Buoys, and Long Range Sensors. Payment of 5125 Mcr is received, and
immediately put to use.

6 Million more colonists are shipped to Heaven this month. With no
terrestrial planets left in the known space, we must find new systems to
continue to grow.

Late in the month, reports arrive from Survey 02. Exploring from Centaurus,
the fleet arrives in a Blue Giant system, which is named Tannerman. With no
planets needing surveying, the fleet starts gravitic surveys.
