Spanish Immersion Outside Mexico City
AIU/MCC students have the option to study Spanish in
an intensive environment in the garden city of Cuernavaca. Classes are
provided by a language school in Cuernavaca, in cooperation with the
Mexico City campus of Alliant International University.
Non-credit classes are offered on a weekly basis and new sessions begin
each Monday. To receive academic credit, a minimum of two weeks study
is required. Programs include home- stays and a range of extracurricular
activities.

Spanish Survival Course
This one week, 15-hour, intensive class is for people
on-the-go who want to learn some Spanish and move on to further explore
Mexico. Emphasis is on daily language needs and special Mexican terms.
Three hours of class per day include 2 hours in small groups and one
hour of private personalized time. Daily after-class communication assignments
and a Conversation Partner are also included.

Spanish
A variety of activities as well as real-life experiences
are incorporated in the course methodology at the AIU/MCC Language Center.
While learning the language, you'll develop an understanding of cultural
context through out-of-classroom activities and in-class assignments.
Spanish can also be practiced in informal contact with our international
student body. The aim of the program is to provide the student, traveler
and ex-patriot in Mexico with the skills needed to quickly become involved
in daily activities, while building a solid knowledge of the language.
The standard course at AIU/MCC is 30 hours a month. Each class meets
two hours per day, four hours a week. Four units of Academic Quarter
credit are available to eligible students upon completion of 60 class
hours.
Private lessons and individualized programs are available by contacting
the Language Center. AIU/MCC also provides custom developed Spanish,
culture and academic study programs for visiting university groups.

French and Italian
French and Italian classes are available primarily for
students seeking foreign language credit for their university studies.
Some classes may be offered on campus, but AIU/MCC also works with local
cultural institutes to offer a broader range of classes from some of
the top teachers in these languages.

Las clases están diseñadas para que el
estudiante pueda hacer uso del idioma de la manera más natural
incorporando lectura, audición, conversación y escritura,
así como los elementos culturales del idioma. En las clases se
utilizan una serie de actividades y muchos materiales de la vida real
como método de enseñanza. Mientras aprende desarrollará
un entendimiento del contexto cultural. Asimismo podemos diseñar
cursos especiales con énfasis en el lenguaje comercial.
Las clases de nivel superior están diseñadas no sólo
para preparar a los estudiantes que aspiren ingresar a AIU/MCC o a cualquier
otra universidad en los Estados Unidos, pero también para cualquier
alumno que desee adquirir ese nivel de aprendizaje.
Cada curso se compone de módulos de 120 horas.

Conversation Partners
The Conversation Partners Program of Alliant International
University, Mexico City Campus, complements the formal language classes
through informal conversations between participants. The program is
open to anyone who wishes to practice English, French, Spanish or Italian
in a non-structured context, and who would like to help someone else
speak a new language and, above all, learn about a new culture. Conversation
Partners generally speak half of the time in one language and the other
half in the second language.

Special Interest Classes
Each month, AIU/MCC schedules a variety of non-academic,
non-credit classes on various topics. Perhaps you'd like to learn something
more about history, politics or business administration, or participate
in a dance class. Some classes are taught in English and some in Spanish,
so participants can learn, meet new people, and practice a language
without the pressure of being graded.
Most classes are open to students of intermediate and advanced levels;
many are open to any language level.
