privados que financiará la construcción de la Villa
Panamericana.
En una reunión que encabezó el gobernante y que tuvo
lugar en la tarde de ayer en las nuevas oficinas del
Comité Organizador de los Juegos Panamericanos, se
anunció que se entregaron 50 millones de pesos, como
primer aporte y que hoy será cuando se concluirá el
financiamiento del complejo habitacional que alojará a
los deportistas que visitarán Santo Domingo en ocasión
de los juegos, en agosto del próximo año.
Los promotores de la villa necesitan unos 350 millones de
pesos. Ayer recibieron una línea de crédito por 50
millones, restando por negociar los otros 300. Desde el
inicio de la construcción del proyecto, los
constructores han invertido unos 200 millones de pesos.
El secretario de Obras Públicas, Vargas Maldonado,
explicó que la mayoría estarán listas con seis meses
de antelación y las que más tarde estarán, será con 4
meses previo a la fecha de inicio del evento. La visita
del mandatario sorprendió a empleados y funcionarios del
comité.

Cuando se preguntó al presidente Mejía sobre las villas
de los Juegos Nacionales, el titular de Deportes, César
Cedeño, dijo que en Bayaguana se contempla usar unos
apartamentos que construyó el Invi, mientras que con
Obras Públicas se discute la construcción de otras
viviendas en los otros municipios.

El presidente del Comité Organizador de los Juegos
Panamericanos, José Joaquín Puello, dijo que tras el
apoyo reiterativo del presidente
Hipólito Mejía, la Organización Deportiva Panamericana
(ODEPA) y su presidente Mario Vásquez Raña, están más

la sede".
El presidente Mejia
llegó a las 3:10 de la tarde al edificio San Rafael y de
inmediato se reunió con los olímpicos. Se retiró
pasadas las 4:45 de la tarde.
Estuvo acompañado del
Secretario de Deportes, licenciado Cesar Cedeño y del
titular de Obras Publicas, el ingeniero Miguel Vargas
Maldonado, ambos del Comité Ejecutivo de los Panam.
El gobernante manifestó
que quiso conocer personalmente como van los trabajos del
montaje de los juegos, ya que se ausentó unos 11 días
del país y quería conocer de labios de los dirigentes
olímpicos como marchan las labores.
Sobre la Villa Panam, el
presidente Mejia reveló que hoy miércoles se reunirá
con el equipo económico del gobierno para seguir
analizando el aspecto de los 350 millones de pesos que
hay que buscar para concluir la obra.
"Ellos me
entregaron un expediente sobre el dinero de la villa y
eso lo vamos a trabajar de inmediato", sostuvo.
"Esas son cosas de
la macroeconomía que no gano nada con decírselas a
ustedes, además, no es justo que salga en los periódico
primero, antes que los toque con ellos", dijo un
firme Hipólito Mejía.
Adujo que la Villa Panam
estará lista seis meses antes de los Juegos Panam y que
con eso no habrá ningún tipo de problemas.
Tocó el tema del
"pool de los bancos privados" que darían
facilidades a los ingenieros contratistas de la Villa
para que finalicen la misma.
En eso intervino el
ingeniero Miguel Vargas Maldonado y afirmó que ya han
desembolsado unos 50 millones de pesos.
Mejia
dijo en "son de broma" que no le hace caso a
las críticas que le hacen a los Juegos, ya que como
quiera es malo. "Si se hace ustedes lo critican, por
ahí andan unos que lo saben todo y estarán hablando un
día después de los juegos", agregó.
HABLA PUELLO HERRERA
El presidente del
Comité Organizador de los Juegos Panam, doctor Jose
Joaquín Puello, mostró su satisfacción por la visita
sorpresa que giró ayer el presidente Hipólito Mejía a
la nueva sede de los Panam y anunció que el Jefe del
Estado invitó a un almuerzo para la semana entrante al
Comité Ejecutivo en pleno de los juegos.
"Eso habla de una
manera solida del respaldo absoluto que esta brindando el
gobernante a los Juegos Panam y a la juventud
dominicana", enfatizó el dirigente olímpico.
CEDEÑO Y LA VILLA MP
El Secretario de
Deportes, licenciado Cesar Cedeño, afirmó que no habrá
problemas con los apartamentos que hará el INVI que
servirían de Villa para los Juegos Nacionales de Monte
Plata.
"Ya me reuní con
el ingeniero Vargas y no hay problemas con eso",
insistió. El presidente Mejía reiteró de que no hará
más Juegos Nacionales y que se concentrará en invertir
en la gente.
