K-Code Automatics?
"In 1966, Ford bolted the C4 automatic behind the 289 Hi-Po.
Not much has been written about these cars, apparently because
they are extremely rare. Bill Plank bought a Silver Frost '66 K-GT fastback AUTOMATIC last year.
He told us about Tony Gregory's K-Code registry (115 Bellridge Drive, Lafayette, LA 70506). Plank also mentioned his C4 had different internals from a C4 behind an A-code 289-4V.
It has much higher shift points. Does anyone have information on production numbers???"
(Editor's note: Kevin Marti's new book, Mustang...By the Numbers, compiled from 1967 -
1973 Ford production records, shows that 173 Hi-Po Mustangs with C4 automatics
were built in 1967).
