Third Trimester 28 to 40 weeks Physical Symptoms for you The excitement is building. Your baby is seeming more a reality than ever. You are probaly wondering when labor will start and will you recognize when labor stars. Try not to worry, when it is the real thing you will most likely know it.. You abdomen will contiue to grow, even when you think it could not possibly get any larger. Just remember this is your baby's home and soon the pregnancy will be over. Weight Gain and Physical Changes The baby, placenta, uterus and amniotic fluid are all continuing to grow and increase in size. Your uterus will begin putting pressure on your bladder again, causing you to make more bathroom trips and it will also begin pushing on your diaphragm causing shortness of breath. If you are not already sleeping on your side, you should begin to do so now. Sleeping on your back can decrease blood flow to the uterus and increase your feelings of shortness of breath. If your uterus is pressing on the sciatic nerve you may experience sharp pains going down your legs, this is painful but harmless. Some women experience sharp pains in the vagina or cervix, these are also caused by pressure and the uterus and cervix preparing for labor. You will begin seeing your healthcare more often, so your blood pressure and urine can be monitored for signs of complications. If you are RH negative you will need to get a RhoGam injection. If you are planning on taking childbirth classes you want to have these finished at least a month before your due date. Weight gain is again about a pound a week. Your Baby |
