Insight into life beneath the three moons of Gor
It was 1995 when I first became aware of Gor. I was sitting in the passenger terminal at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware. It was 2:00AM on a cold and rainy night. The minutes seemed like hours as I waited to find out if My military transport would be flying to Europe that night. Strolling around the mostly empty and very quiet terminal a stack of books caught My attention. Glancing through them and finally choosing one that looked halfway interesting. Knowing I had nothing better to do on this very long night I opened it up, settled back, and read "Captive of Gor".
I first entered online Gor in 1996 when I found it in mIRC. I still recall my first look at those Gor rooms, such as the s&s on dalnet. I roamed and learned, all the while trying to collect more books to further my "education".
I first entered yahoo Gor in early 1997. At that time Gor was still fairly new to Yahoo. The most prominant room back then was Torjarl's Tavern. After spending time in yahoo Gor I was invited to join a room that had recently opened called the Three Moons of Gor Tavern. Torjarl's Tavern had closed and this new room was quickly becoming a mainstay for the growing Gorean community. The original Owners of the Three Moons of Gor Tavern were An_Honest_Man, Cabot_Tarl, Ra_ven, and Master_Teal. Ra_ven soon left the 3MG to become an Owner of a new Gorean room called The Jagged Dagger. The 3MG and JDT were a major part of yahoo Gor. Also during this time attrition took it's toll on the 3MG owners. Teal, and Cabot_Tarl both left to go their own ways. In the spring of 1998 Torjarl became a 3MG owner. AHM was still around abeit not often. All was well and the 3MG was thriving. And so it went, until july of 1998. This is the time that I call the cataclysm. In july of 1998 Yahoo decided to change it's chat format and ichat went away. The new format was really bad. So bad that the yahoo community as a whole was shaken. The Gor community broke up as people migrated to many different chat area's such as irc, pow wow, Lycos, and msn. The community was split into dozens of directions. Even the 3MG was not immune to moving. After attempting to stay with yahoo we moved to irc where we spent the next year. Over the next year AHM and Torjarl both left the 3MG and Master__Ray joined. Soon after that Sebastian_Ur_Benaar also became a 3MG owner. In 2000 we moved back to yahoo. Seb left soon after that. For the next 3 years Ray and I continued to run the Tavern. Eventually I realized I did not have the time to give and I retired from the 3MG in Nov of 2003. Not having a room after all those years seemed too strange so I did create The House of Stroke, although it is rarely open.
I do hope that My pages and the info gathered there can perhaps help some people who have questions. I hear many talk about honor. Honor is a personal thing. As is a persons personal integriy, and talk is cheap. People will perceive you as they choose to do. Will it be based on your actions? We can only hope so, but as you have likely heard before, Gor is not fair. That is true, but then again what is? Be who you are. Gor is Gor. I wish you well.
