Our Story About Kirstin

Hi !  My Name is Lacey.  My husband’s  name is Jessie.  On February 1st, 2001 I took a HPT (home  pregnancy test).  Well I through it  was negative., cause I had only seen one line.  So I threw it away.  The next morning Jessie was getting ready for work and decided to check the  test.  Long and Behold He came in the room and told me that I was Pregnant.  I told him no I was not.  So he showed me the  home Pregnancy stick.  I thought it was a dream, so I went and took the other one.  It also came back with  two lines.  So later that day I Called the Hospital to get a pregnancy test  done for insurance Purposes.  Two days later they called back and told me that I was defiantly  Pregnant.  The next step was to enroll in a class that they have.  So I did that.  My first  OB appointment was on the 1st of March.  At this appointment  they did the urine sample .  Then they did all the other Things that they do for the first Visit.  Then the Dr asked me how far along I was?  I told him that I did  not know.   So then he did an ultrasound , and did not find anything.  So then he decided to do a vaginal ultrasound.  Which hurt like Hell.  Well then He  told me to get dressed and that he would see me in a month.  So I got dressed and was ready to leave.  As I was walking down the Hall He called me back and said that he puts my due date around the 13th of October.  Well I never went back.  I did not like this Dr.

I then transferred all my insurance stuff and Ob Papers to  The women’s health center of southern  Oregon.  To the Dr that I had, had with both my Boys.  I know that I could trust him.  He knew my history.  My second appointment  was on April 4th , 2001.    With switching to another Dr.  I had to do everything over.  So This Dr. did another ultrasound.  He Told me that my due date was on the 15th Of October.  So I had decided to go with this date because I could trust him.  At this appointment they checked the heartbeat and it was strong.  It was about 152.  That was fine for me.  So He told me that He would see me in a month.  So I scheduled an appointment.

On May 4th was my next appointment.  At this appointment the Dr Just checked the Heartbeat and   The heartbeat and the urine sample.  The Heartbeat was around 153 or so.  I told him that she was Jus starting to move around a lot.  I also had a lot of blood work on this appointment.  I am sure that the Lab Tech  was thinking why so much Blood work?  Well the hospital that I was at before. Never sent any of the Lab results.

My next appointment was on June 18th.  I do not think that I will ever forget that appointment.    I had told the  Dr that I was having spotting and some miner contractions.  So he immediately  told me to go to the Ultrasound room.  So Jessie and I went there.  He started the ultrasound, and  looked around for a few minutes.  Then we asked him If we could see what sex the baby was.  He immediately told us that it was a  little girl.  I think that  Jessie and I both shouted for Joy.  Right then in there we all including the Dr. Called Kirstin by name. So then the Dr looks further and tells us that I have Placenta Previa.  I started to cy because I was scared.  So we asked a bunch of questions.  He gave us both reassuring and unreassuring answers.  I left his office that day knowing that I could lose my little girl.  I told Jessie that I did not know whether to attach myself to Kirstin or not.   Well I did.  From that moment on I decided to enjoy My Pregnancy, but at the same time tried to take it easy.  Especially with two little boys, that are wild.

On July 12th, 2001  we  were getting for a busy day. I took a shower and I felt this weird movement.  It felt like  Kirstin was jumping.   So then we went about our day.  That night Jessie and I were cleaning the  Spare closet,.  I was not lifting anything.  Then we had dinner, gave the boys their baths, and out them to bed.  After all this I was tired.  So I went down stairs to lay on the couch while Jessie Played on the computer.

It was now about 10 P.M.  It finally hit me that I have Not felt Kirstin since the Shower that morning.  I waited about 10 to 15 minutes  before I told Jessie.  So I ate a snack and had a soda, to see if that would stimulate  Kirstin to move.  Well about a half hour went bye and nothing Happened.  So I went and got my books to see what they had to say.  One of them said that a baby may not move up to four days at a time.  I remember saying that was crazy.  I had never heard of that before.  So in the back of my mind I was  starting to think that Kirstin was gone.  I try to put this thought out of my mind.  I decided to go to bed, but I could not sleep.  I stood up till about 5 A.m. on Friday July the 13th, 2001.

I awoke Later that Morning, Telling Jessie  that I never felt Kirstin move all night.  I told him that this was not like her, not to move.  I was getting ready to call the Dr’s. Office.  Well when I told them what was going on.  They Told my to get to the nearest hospital.  As they knew that I lived out  of state.    Well  WE all went as a family.  It took them a while to get me in.  this seemed like an hour, but it was like 30 minutes.
The nurse hooked me up to the Heart and contraction monitor, for a non stress test.  She never got a heartbeat.  She was trying to tell me the baby was hiding, and that she would get it in a minute.  Well she Never got the Heartbeat.  Instead she went and got the Dr. to do an ultrasound.  So when she started the Machine, I stared intently  at the monitor.  I never seen Kirstin Move once.  I really think this is when I knew that she was gone.  I also did not see a heartbeat.  Then the Dr told me that she was sorry, but that your baby has  died.  At this point I was 26 and ¾ weeks along.

So we went to my moms in Oregon to have Kirstin at the Hospital there.  Kirstin was born sleeping on July 17,2001 @ 2:35 A.m.  She weighed 2 pounds and 4 ounces.  Kirstin was 14 ½ inches long..  She had  some hair.  I to this day think that, I was further along then everyone thinks I was.  Jessie and I took turns Holding our little Kirstin in between the pictures and the footprints.  We held her for two hours and took some pictures of our own.  Then about 5 a.m. we asked the Nurse to come and get Kirstin.
At about  6 a.m. the sun was starting to rise.  It was coming out over the mountains.  Both Jessie said at the same time.  That is Kirstin  Smiling and saying that she is ok.  I started bawling.  I just wanted her to be alive.

On Monday July 23 we had her services.  The Pastor that did her services was a close friend of mine and like a dad to me.  His name is Bob Friend.  He is the Pastor of a church in Brookings, Or.  Kirstin was laid to rest in Grants Pass Oregon, at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens, in Baby Land area.

Kirstin is deeply missed by Her mommy, (Lacey), Her daddy (Jessie), and her two older brothers (Korey  and Krischan.)
