Matt Lockyer, younger brother of Darren Lockyer, has not been offered a contract by the Tigers for the 2002 season. He will now go back to play with Souths in the QLD competition.

Lockyer played in the Tigers 2 trials against the Eels and the Storm. He played rather solid however coach Terry Lamb probably just thought he wasnt quite ready to match the standard for the NRL.

I am hoping that this decision will not come back and bite the Tigers later on as Lockyer could of been good backup for the five-eighth position.

February 22nd - 2002
