Many fans were disappointed that the final chapter, "Dark Soul," didn't have art. This was done for several reasons, and many people are indeed "down with them." Yet, some were still unsatisfied. That is not really why I did this picture.
I did this... because I had an idea for a full second series, but can't physically make it happen. With my insane schedule and the constraints of being a person who takes his sweet time drawing, I simply didn't have the time to make it happen. Were it not for the valiant efforts (eg constant poking and prodding) of a few individuals, "Dark Soul" probably wouldn't have even been finished to the degree it was. DS is my favorite chapter, even without art... thanks, guys. Keleri, Lisa, and Trey... this is for you.
The second "Legendary" arc picks up a few years after the first concludes. Stryker and Heather have a young son named Alan, after the ill-fated Hunter of "Arctic Chill." All is quiet for several years, until the government's PRI begins looking for Stryker and Articuno again. Neil is forced to leave town so his family will be safe, Heather and his young son left behind.
Alan spent his early years with his father, learning Pokemon legends and stories of adventure. He was particularly interested, along with his father, in the legendary Suikun, a mystic water type creature. They both have an inexplicable attraction toward it... perhaps the Stryker men have ice in their veins.
When Alan turns ten, he is ready to begin his own training journey. He sets out to look for both his father and Suikun... and ends up finding both at once. This picture would be from the end of the second story arc. There are a couple details you may not be able to make out from the downsizing of the original scan: Alan wears Neil's old necklace, Neil has a bit of a goatee, and Heather has the kanji for 'ice' and 'shadow' on her dress.
I suppose this is halfway an apology to the near thousand people who read the first series. To all of you... I give you my most sincere, humble thanks. "Legendary" is perhaps the pinnacle creation of my life, and I'm proud of what it has become. Thanks to everyone for their continued support, and be sure to look out for future projects (hint, there are some). For now, check out my lovely rhetoric at www.generation-n.net
Thanks again... this has been a wild ride, and one I'll never forget. -N. Aschliman
