| Oath of Loyalty The Oath of Loyalty is a pledge made by Sabbat members to restate their loyalty and restate the conditions which they joined the Sabbat. It is often said in unison by a pack before they partake in the Vaulderie. Archbishops and Cardinals may require a new member of the Sabbat in their territory to recite it before being recognized. In such cases that the Oath is mearly said and Vaulderie is not taken, section V is not said. I I was alive and lived in the sun. II I was dead and lived in the ground. III I am between and live in the night. IV Through Caine, I am that I am. Through blood, life returns to me. Through blood, death is remembered. V I came unto you freely, and committed myself to the goals of the sect. In return I was given harsh duty to preform and brotherhood to honor. VI I am loyal to my brothers, my pack, and my sect. Should I be disloyal, let my brothers torture me, let my brothers tear my body asunder, let my brothers burn me till only ashes remain, let them scatter those ashes to the winds, and let them forget that I was ever their brother. VII To prove my loyalty I have added my blood to theirs and from this we all shall drink. There is a ritual which goes along with the Oath of Loyalty. It is usually preformed once a year by a pack during the summer solstice or when new members have been admitted into the pack. For the ritual, there must be three sections in which to preform it. Three rooms with adjoining doorways are preferred, however a single room with part of the hallway into is sectioned off into two other areas can be done. The first section is to have yellow walls with yellow curtains over the doorway to the second section. It is to be brightly lit. This represents the world of the living and sunlight. The second section is to have brown walls with brown curtains over the doorways leading to and from it. It is to be unlit. This represents the land of the dead and the ground. The third section is to have black walls with a black curtain over the doorway leading into it. It is to be dimly lit and have a table in the center with a receptacle for the blood of the vampires and a knife. All the vampires except for the priest begin in the first section. One of them states section I of the Oath and move to the second section. Once in the second section, they should stop and state section II of the Oath and then move through the next doorway to the third section. They should stop and state section III of the Oath. The priest will motion them forward and they should move to the table and state section IV of the Oath. Then they should use the knife to add some of their blood to the receptacle and state section V of the Oath. Once this is finished the next vampire in first section of the rooms begins their journey to the table. When all of the vampires present have added their blood to the receptacle and seated around the table, the priest will stand and recite the Oath for himself, adding his blood and stirring the mixture in the process. he will then recite section VII of the Oath and pass the receptacle to the vampire on his left. They will recite section VII of the Oath, drink and pass on the receptacle. This continues till all the vampires present have drank and partaken in Vaulderie . |
