Japan are concerned on disabled customers

17 March 2006,
Today I have found a photo with the caption in local newspaper in Thailand named "Matichon" read that Seven & I Holdings Co., Ltd, Yokado supermarket and Seven-Eleven Co.,Ltd in Japan organized a training course for their new employees upon joining the company on how to assist the disabled customer who are blind and deaf. The photo shown employees are learning sign language.

I have accessed to Seven & I Holdings’ website and learned more about the company with regard to social responsibility.
Promoting social activities close to local communities.
Along with the people in local communities, the company is participating in the building of a society where people can live safely and comfortably, through activities such as support activities for disaster areas during emergencies, fund-raising activities for organizations involved in environmental protection and social-support activities, designing store from the viewpoint of universal designs, which can be safely and comfortably used by everyone, and “safety station” activities, for building a safe and reassuring community. For example a universal design toilet, easily used by everyone.

Living in Harmony with Local Communities
Seven-Eleven Japan stores concentrate on providing products appropriate to the locale and communities. Through Safety Station and other activities enhancing communication with customers, stores emphasize harmony with local communities.
Improving Customers Comfort
Cooperating in Osaka’s Ordinance Promoting a Barrier-Free Society
In response to Osaka’s Ordinance Promoting a Barrier-Free Society enacted in April 2003, our Osaka stores have started renovations to make them barrier-free. As of June 2004, some 16 stores have been accredited with ordinance conformance increasing access to the elderly and those with disabilities through enlarged aisles, restroom handrails, Braille blocks, etc.
