Tuesday, January 11, 2005 12:28 PM

STATESVILLE - The Iredell County Office of Emergency Management recently received 30 special weather-alert radios for Iredell residents who are deaf and hard of hearing.

The devices were provided through a grant obtained by the N.C. Division of Emergency Management and the N.C. Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

Eight Mooresville residents and seven Statesville residents will receive the devices.

The remaining radios will be given out as the office learns of others eligible for the devices.

For more details, including the requirements to receive one of the radios, call Tracy Jackson, director/emergency management coordinator of Iredell County Emergency Services, at (704) 878-5037.
