He walks on the wings of the wind;
Flaming fire, as a messenger, he sends;
Like a lioness her cubs, he defends;
With his lifeblood the veil he did rend.
Before time and creation the Word.
Let there be! It is good! Then was heard.
Taking flesh he was sent with truth gird,
His sonship and priesthood averred.
In him the Life, the Light of mankind;
Words sought become life to all those who find.
The strong man is plundered through power to bind,
The spoils sure to those who abide in the Vine.
Good news he preached to all who would hear;
The Jubilee of God! The acceptable year!
God dwells among men! The end of all fear!
Between God and man, Peace! Be of good cheer!
Of many brethren, the First Born is he;
Through his vict'ry, God's children are we.
Though for now, only dimly we see,
In a twinkling, like him, we shall be.
