Praise

Praise the Lord; for the Lord is good and his mercy endures forever.



halal (OT Heb): praise, celebrate, boast
aineo (NT Gk): praise, extol, sing praises in honor to God
praise (AHD Eng): an expression of warm approval, admiration or commendation


I will call on the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies. 2 Samuel 22:4

He appointed those who sang to the Lord and those who praised him in holy attire, as they went out before the army and said, "Give thanks to the Lord, for his lovingkindness is everlasting." And when they began singing and praising, the Lord set ambushes against (their enemies) and they were routed. 2 Chron. 20:21, 22


From the mouth of infants and nursing babes thou hast established strength, because of thine adversaries, to make the enemy and the revengeful cease. Psalms 8:2

Jesus said, "Have you never read, 'Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babes thou hast prepared praise for thyself'?" Matthew 21:16

prepare praise = establish strength

Jesus is saying that in praising God lies strength to still our enemies!



I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. Psalms 18:3

You are holy, you who inhabit the praises of Israel. Psalms 22:3

You who fear the Lord, praise him Psalms 22:23

Give to the Lord the glory due to his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. Psalms 29:2

Sing praises to the Lord, you his godly ones, and give thanks to his holy name. Psalms 30:4

Sing for joy in the Lord, you righteous ones; praise is becoming to the upright. Psalms 33:1

I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth Psalms 34:1

He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many will see and fear, and will trust in the Lord. Psalms 40:3

He who offers praise glorifies me; and to him who orders his way aright will I show the salvation of God. Psalms 50:23

O Lord, open my lips, that my mouth may declare your praise. Psalms 51:15

It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to your name, O Most High; to declare your lovingkindness in the morning, and your faithfulness by night. Psalms 92:1

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Psalms 100:4

From the rising of the sun to its setting the name of the Lord is to be praised Psalms 113:3

An hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be his worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. John 4:23-24

Through [Jesus] then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to his name. Hebrews 13:15
