WACA Regional Meeting

Near East & Africa – Lebanon

The Interline Club of Lebanon hosted the Regional Meeting for Near East & Africa at the Searock Hotel.  Thirty-four delegates and observers were warmly welcomed by the I C of Lebanon. Nineteen members attended from Jordan I Club. Seven out of nine clubs were present.

We were honoured to have our WACA President, Maga Ramasamy in attendance.  Also present were my two Assistants Yousef Yousef (Jordan) and Alison Palmer (Capetown),  immediate past President Ramzi Shuwayhat.

The meeting was a successful and fruitful one.  Various issues were discussed.  Special emphasis was placed on WACA’s Vision – to become a respectable and recognised Association within the industry.   Regional strategies were put into place with key persons nominated to achieve WACA’s goal:-

·         Web Page;        Yola Isaac (Amman) assisted by Glenn Pillay (Seychelles)

·         Public Relations;   Glenn Pillay

·         Sports & Intl. Events;    Maga Ramasamy

·         Special Projects;   Sakher Khreisha

·         Regional Fund;        Yousef Yousef

Delegates were also briefed upon the forthcoming AGA at the Movenpick Resort & Spa in Amman, Jordan.  The Jordan I Club assured that preparations were well under.  WACA President was in receipt of a letter from Mr.Akel Biltaji, Ministry of Tourism, Jordan, welcoming WACA 34th AGA Delegates & Observers to Amman, Jordan. Mr.Akel Biltaji ensured that Jordan was a very safe place, and that everyone’s safety was of utmost concern.

After the meeting delegates and observers enjoyed a scrumptious seafood platter with time to spare for some shopping in the late afternoon.

In the evening we all enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Searock, not to mention the beautiful singing and ‘belly dancer’ that kept many a seat ‘hot’.

Our hosts, the I C of Lebanon, in particular Raymond Chidiac (WACA Member of Honour), El-Ham Samara, Anbara Salam and Nouhad Chamoun spared not efforts in making our brief stay in Lebanon every bit enjoyable.  A certificate of appreciation on behalf of WACA was jointly presented to the Club’s President, Raymond by WACA President and RVP Near East & Africa.
