| Ruins of Pompeii, Italy with Mt. Versuvius in the background. Pompeii was once the hub of commercial activity until a massive earthquake destroyed most of the city. While some fled the city for good, those who stayed tried to rebuild the city. In 79AD, the mountain erupted and destroyed the city leaving it a virtual ghost town. |
