I'm in NYC only for the summer. So I decided to eat as many sweets as possible here :-) Here is my daily reviews of the shops I visited.

Panya Bakery
7/31/2003
I went to Panya Bakery. I couldn't decide which one for a while, but bought a tiramisu :-) It was just the right size and yum :-)

Marquet Patisserie
7/24
I got chocolate mousse and cherry tart :-) I had heard cakes there were sort of heavy, but it wasn't at all. (Maybe I was just tired and hungry) The mousse was so smooth and the cherry was so sour the way I like it.

Le Gamin
7/22
My friend took me here and said their crepes are delicious. I went there again today. I tried citron & sucre (lemon & sugar) crepes and a glass of cold chocolate. This crepes tastes like the ones I tasted in St-Louis Island in Paris, France and the interior does look like that of paritian cafe :) Cold chocolate is not sweet but delish!

La Bergamote again
7/15
Hmph, every time I go there, clerks are not smiling at all... If I were a cafe owner, I'd tell everyone to smile to customers :/ Anyway, I got a brioche and croissant.
White chocolate cake. Each chocolate on the side has La Bergamote name on it. Very fancy! I thought it was a bit too sweet, but the sponge was incredibly soft.

Murray's Cheese
7/10
I got greek yogurt today at Murray's Cheese (well even if it's a cheese store..) in Grand Central market.

Ceci Cela Patisserie
7/1
Sorry, I forgot to bring my digital camera again, but I ordered creme brulee and opera here. I've heard creme brulee is so good here. I ordered Bergamot flavored creme brulee, though. I asked the waitress what "bergamot" was and she said it tasted like earl grey and kind of strong. I said I loved earl grey and ordered that anyway. I had never eaten opera before, so I ordered that, too. They tasted so great. This creme brulee might be addictive and the sugar top was crispy just the way I liked. By the way, Ceci Cela means This That I think (after running a French translation).

The City Bakery's croissant
6/29
I wanted to eat good croissant, so I visited The City Bakery again. I got a this croissant called Pretzel Croissant. It's so crispy & salty outside and soft & fluffy inside. It's heavier than regular croissant you know but I think it's because it's whole wheat flour. It's heavy weight-wise, but not heavy at all as in greasy. I actually love this.
Their signature mashmallow. One is already so huge for me, but so fluffy and yum. After ordering lemonade also, I realized this was one of the best bakeries in the city. Only if it was a bit cheaper...

Eileen's "Special" Cheese Cake
6/28
I'm gaining weight (>_<), so I went for a walk towards Grand Central station. I took 6 and got off at Spring St. and started walking without any destination and ran into Eileen's shop. My bakery research notebook had this shop, but today I wasn't even planning to come here, so I felt like it was meant to be and got in. The store was small, but there were several seats for eat-in. There are so many small cheesecakes. I got a tiramisu and plain cheesecake. To tell you the truth, I'm not a big fan of cheesecake, so this one is a bit too heavy to me... But their size is just right for me.

La Bergamote
6/26
I went to La Bergamote near my apartment. I had been here actually long time ago, but had forgotten about it till I entered the shop. It was such a hot day, so I ordered light lemon mousse. It's so delicious! I also got a man shaped bread. Is he on his belly? His butt looks sexy :D

Petrossian Paris
6/25
I love street blocks because each block is so short. I could walk forever. Anyway I walked to Petrossian Paris today. As soon as I entered I realized it was such a classy expensive place. All the sweets and also savory stuff such as smoked salmon and caviar looked too beautiful. This is the store logo.
I ordered the mousse cake the store clerk recommended and the pistachio cake. The mousse was surely yum. Pistachio one was a bit too dense for me. Both had such a gorgeous design and pricey too. My money is draining...into my stomach.

Columbus Bakery
6/24
I went to Columbus Bakery near Columnbus Ave. in Upper West. It's near H&H Bagels and Cafe Lalo, Zabar's. Everything looked so delicious and I ordered a key lime pie. Maybe I went in too late in the day, because the crust wasn't good, and key lime filling tasted not smooth. This is a chocolate brioche, but this is too big and doesn't taste that good :/ As a coffee drinker, I liked their iced coffee, though, because it was so big.
H&H bagels. It was such a small shop for its popularity. It was so chewy and yum.

Payard
6/19
Finally, I went to Payard. It was in a nice Upper East neighborhood. When I entered, I saw so many dressed up folks, so I felt out of place, but I forgot about that as soon as I saw a collection of sweets he offered in glass cases. It reminded me of all those beautiful cake, bread and chocolate sweets I saw in bakeries in Paris and I got instantly happy! :-) I ordered cassis & passion fruit mousse. I was too chickened out to take a picture in that atmosphere, but you can see it at www.payard.com. It was sophisticated taste. This bakery is easily the best in town. I've never eaten canele before, so I bought one. Hmph, interesting taste...
There were Amy's Bread and Corrado Bread & Pastry nearby.
Lemon Poppyseed cookies from Eleni's at Chelsea Market. I went there yesterday. They have design cookies. Great for gifts!(a bit pricey?)

Veniero's & Corrado Bread & Pastry
I went to Veniero's yesterday and ate Strawberry Mille Feuille. It was one of the best Mille Feiulle ever. I'm definitely coming back. I wanted to go to Corrado Bread & Pastry, so I stopped by at Grand Central Market after I said bye to my friend at the station. There were so many kinds of bread and pastry, but I decided on creme brulee and brioche. Brioche was yum.
The top sugar of creme cruless wasn't hard... I like ths crispy top. But this was tasty and good size.
Italian bakery, D'Aiuto. (how do I prounce it?) I heard it's been around since 1924. WOW. Ricotta cheese tart (my favorite italian dessert), biscotti and chocolate cookie and they cost $2.40. Cheap and yum! I love this kind of bakery.

Black Hound
6/15
I went to Black Hound today. I bought mango & coconut mousse cake and lotsaberry tart.
The section looks like this. Hmmm... yummy, but I thought they were too sweet...

Magnolia etc.
6/14
I went to Magnolia Bakery, but it wasn't open, so I stopped by at Polka Dot cafe. There were so many pretty mini-cakes and 5 young women were making sweets behind the counter.
After reading Anne of the green gables a bit, I was off to Magnolia Bakery. There are several customers already even 10 mins after it's open. There were so many cupcakes on a tray and the guy told me I could pick whichever I wanted, and bring it to the cashier. So I picked a pink one :-) The sponge was vanilla taste, and it's SO YUM! I'm not so fond of the frost, so I couldn't eat it all, though. Sorry... but it was good though!
Isn't it such a cute color?

Once Upon a "Tart"
6/6
I went to Soho today to go to Once Upon A Tart. I have a class about tarts this week, so that's why. I've heard even celebrities go to this cafe, so my expectations were kind of high. I ordered Apple Tart with Alsacium(?). I don't know what Alsacium, though. Is it Assam? The tea? I couldn't tell from the flavor. Anyway, sorry, I didn't like the tart at all... I don't even know why this place is so famous... Their madeleine looked so good, though. Dean & Deluca is just around the corner from here.

Cafe Lalo
6/4
I went to a cafe that appeared in You've Got Mail the movie. I had heard their tiramisu was so good, so I tried one. There was tiramisu which has amaretto flavor, but I ordered a tradional one. YUM! Tiramisu's mascarpone cheese can be so heavy, but this is just right somehow. When I finished eating this without any trouble :) I regretted leaving my digital camera at home :/ The interior is so cute. It reminds me of an old circus I went to when I was little. The cashing machine was manual which I loved. I asked them to give me one container as a souvenior and they gave me matches that go with it. Nice design, isn't it?
There is a gold doiley paper inside. This is chocolate that came with iced coffee. Such a nice little gesture.

Fat Witch
6/3
Java flavored brownie I got from Fat Witch. I haven't tried yet, but isn't this logo cute? She looks like a little naughty witch :-) Fat Witch is in Chelsea Market. I had seen it on TV on Best Of, so I couldn't not enter the store :) There are so many flavors besides Java and you can also buy T-shirts and mug cups.

Panya Bakery
6/3
I went to a Japanese bakery, "Panya Bakery". (I'm originally from Japan, by the way :-) I bought Pannakotta jello. I asked the guy who works there what he recommended and he pointed at this. It was cool and great sweet for the summer I thought.

The City Bakery
6/2
I went to the City Bakery today. As soon as I entered the shop, I realized I could relax there. First of all, the ceiling is so high! The stair is made from woods and feels really nice. From all kinds of cookies and tarts, I chose a Passion Fruit Tart. At first, I thought the filling was hard, but actually it was mousse. Isn't the rasberry jam dot cute? Sweetness from the jam and sourness of the mousse match so well. This tart was heaven. Usually, the tart shell is too hard and bland or too sweet, but this one was so light and just right.
