1980-1988 
Magic gets 5 rings with the Lakers, while Bird gets 3 with the Celtics. 

Winner of Finals is indicated in bold. 

1979-80: 
Lakers (1) over Sixers. 
Magic plays in place of the injured Kareem to lead the Lakers to victory.  Magic becomes the first rookie to win the Finals MVP. 

1980-81: 
Finals: Celtics (1) over Rockets 
Celtics come back from 3-1 to beat the Sixers, one of the few comebacks ever from 3-1. 
 
1981-82: 
Celtics over Sixers 
Finals: Lakers (2) over Sixers 

1982-83: 
Sixers over Lakers (4-0) 
Sixers had Dr. J (AKA Julius Erving) and Maurice Cheeks, an excellent passer. 

1983-84: 
Celtics (2) over Lakers (4-3) 

1984-85: 
Finals: Lakers (3) over Celts 
Bird did not play because of an injury. 

1985-86: 
Rockets over Lakers 
Celts (3) over Rockets 

1986-87: 
Lakers finished 67-15, the 5th highest ever. 
Lakers (4) over Celtics 

1987-88: 
Finals: Lakers (5) over Pistons 

1988-89: 
Finals: Pistons over Lakers 

1989-90: 
Playoffs: #6 seed Golden State Warriors sweeps #3 seed Utah Jazz.  I was so happy cuz the Jazz beat out my Spurs for the division title. 
Finals: Pistons over Blazers 

1990-91: 
Bulls over Lakers 
The Bulls overcome a 0-2 start in the Finals, only the 3rd team to do so.  Jordan makes 13 consecutive field goals.  Jordan gets his 1st ring and makes a shot hand-switching shot many call the best of his career.  John Paxon and Bill Cartwright on the Bulls. 
Vlade was with the Lakers then too.  James Worthy and Byron Scott were sidelined. 

1991-92: 
Bulls VS Blazers 
Bulls beat the Portland Blazers. 

1992-93: 
Bulls VS Suns 
Bulls beat Barkley, Kidd, & the Suns.  The only Finals Barkley ever made it to. 

1993-94: 
Rockets tie record for best start ever by going 15-0.  Olajuwon wins the MVP.  Rockets have Robert Horry.  Suns still have Barkley. 

Finals: Rockets VS Knicks 
Hakeem Olajuwon & the Rockets beat the Knicks.  Rockets come back to win from 1-3, only the 5th time in playoff history. 

1994-95: 
Rockets VS Orlando Magic 
With Olajuwon injured, the Rockets obtain Drexler.  The Rockets become the lowest seed (#6) to win a championship by defeating Shaq & the Orlando Magic.  Drexler gets a ring. 

1995-96: 
Bulls VS Sonics 
Jordan returns to the Bulls after 1 year and Rodman also joins the team.  Bulls have the best start in team history.  Bulls set a record for most wins in a season (72).  Bulls have Steve Kerr.  Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman are named to All Defensive Team.  Bulls defeat the Sonics (Payton & Kemp). 

1996-97: 
Bulls VS Jazz 
The year of the flu game.

1997-98: 
Bulls VS Jazz 
Malone & Stockton's last Finals appearance.  Down by 3 pts, Jordan makes a shot to bring the Bulls within 1 then steals the ball to make the game-winner.  One of the best Finals moments ever. 

1998-99: 
Spurs win 31 of their last 36 games after a 6-8 start to get the best record in the NBA.  This happened after David Robinson relinquished his offensive role to Tim Duncan. 

Spurs over Knicks 
Knicks were the first #8 seed to make it to the NBA finals.  Spurs win their 1st championship ever, David Robinson gets a ring. 

1999-2000: 
Lakers VS Pacers 
Shaq, Kobe, & the Lakers win. 

2000-01: 
Lakers VS Sixers 
Lakers zoom through the playoffs with a 15-1 record.  They swept the Kings. 

2001-02: 
Lakers VS Nets 
Lakers get a 3-peat.  Kings almost beat them with Bibby, but the rest of the team crumbled.
