A Kingdom of Dreams ch.2
Here’s chapter 2 of my fic. Some more t/p in this one. It seems a little modern to be Middle Ages don’t you think? I also didn’t put any thous or thees or Middle Age talk. In this one Trunks is still a little mean, but don’t worry I’ll take care of that very soon. Remember, I got all these ideas and the plot from Judith McNaught’s story. I don’t own DBZ. Enjoy!

Pan, Marron, and Bra were taken wrapped in cloaks so that they couldn’t escape. Night came before they had reached their destination and Prince Trunks and his army had to set up camp. The girls were tossed aside while the men pitched their tents.
In Pan’s mind she was going over all the horrible things she had heard about Prince Trunks. ‘Tis said he keeps no prisoners unless he means to torture them, she shuddered, He laughs when his victims scream with pain. She began to struggle against the ropes around her arms and legs, she squirmed beneath the cloak and tried to break free.
Her father’s voice came back to her from when she had dressed like a boy and gone to train with the army. If it is the Lord’s will that you die at the hands of the enemy, then do it bravely. Die fighting like a warrior. Like a Son! Die fighting…
That is just what she would do. She would not go down willingly. She would never beg for mercy. She would never surrender. She would die like a warrior. Suddenly she heard voices and felt herself being dragged. She knew not where she was until she heard a single voice. Pan knew it was his voice, for it sounded like the very voice of death.
"Now let’s see what we’ve got, men," he said, and even though Pan was more frightened than she had ever been in her life she managed to struggle. The ropes fell away and she shook off the cloak. As soon as she was free she swung her fists at Prince Trunks and hit him squarely in the jaw. She swung again, but he caught her arms and pinned them to her sides. That didn’t stop her from kicking out her legs and catching him in the shin.
"Bitch!" he growled, and pushed her away from him, but she kicked out again and caught him in the groin. He snarled and was obviously hurt.
"Be still!" he roared, and everything was silenced. Pan didn’t know why she had stopped fighting, but she couldn’t move. He grabbed her by her hair and yanked her head up. Pan closed her eyes at the pain in her scalp, but when she opened them she found her self looking into his face. She didn’t acknowledge that he was quite handsome because she was blinded by fear and rage.
Prince Trunks looked into the eyes of the raven-haired girl and saw fire there. She spat in his face. He let go of her and she dropped to the floor. She sat there dazed for a moment.
"Who the hell are these women?" he yelled at Bra.
"They are my friends," said Bra with her head held high. She wouldn’t let him know who they were because he would surely hold them hostage. Marron however did not consider this.
"You know not who she is!" said Marron stupidly, "She is the Princess…"
"Shut up!" shouted both Pan and Bra. Marron paled and realized her mistake. Trunks did not know right away what she was about to say. He looked down at their clothes and concluded:
"They are but peasant girls." Pan and Bra sighed in relief. Pan did not want to be the fall of Chikyuu. She knew if she was held hostage, her country might have to surrender.
"No!" said Uub, "Do not be fooled by their attire, Prince Trunks. Is not Princess Bra clothed in peasant clothes as well? I think the one that struck you is Princess Pan of Chikyuu."
Trunks gave her a second look and realized that this may be quite true. He turned to Marron and decided to see if he could get her to talk.
"Is it true that your companion is Princess Pan of Chikyuu?" he asked. Marron was frightened, so she nodded, then fainted away. Trunks smiled evilly.
"No!" yelled Pan, "I am no Princess! She knows not what she says!" Trunks turned to her.
"Then it is true," Trunks said calmly, "I wonder who the other one is, but she is likely someone of high rank also. They will be held as hostages. Tie them up and put them in a tent. I want them alive for questioning tomorrow." Bra looked at Pan helplessly, but Pan smiled at her. I will be just fine, Pan seemed to be thinking.
Back in their tent when Marron came to, she looked to her friend for comfort.
"He won’t kill us, will he?" Marron asked Pan.
"No," said Pan, who wasn’t sure if he would or wouldn’t, but didn’t want to frighten Marron into hysteria (ha!).

The next morning Pan woke up at the first rays of the sun. She nudged Marron to wake her up.
"Marron, Marron, are thee awake?" she whispered.
"Aye, princess," said Marron sleepily.
"Listen, when Prince Trunks questions us, I will give him answers okay?"
"Yes," said Marron, who was too afraid to say otherwise. Not too much later Uub and another man came to take Marron for questioning.
"No!" said Pan afraid that Marron would give them away, "Take me, instead of her!" But Uub shook his head and dragged out Marron who was weeping. Later when Marron was returned to the tent Pan asked:
"Did he hurt you?"
"No," said Marron still crying, "but he made me tell him who I am."
Pan cursed and awaited her turn.

In Trunks’ tent Uub was talking to him about Marron who had just left.
"She’s quite pretty," said Uub.
"So," said Trunks ignoring Uub, "she is Duchess Marron of Chestnut?"
"The beautiful Duchess Marron of Chestnut," corrected Uub.
"Ha," snorted Prince Trunks, "I can’t believe you’d fall for her. She’s got no backbone. All she does is cry. You might as well stick a ‘damsel in distress’ sign on her."
"I guess that means you prefer the rebellious type," said Uub, " Maybe the princess?"
"Shut up!" said Prince Trunks, " and it’s time for her questioning, fetch me her."
"Yes, milord," said Uub leaving.

Uub stepped into the girls’ tent with two other soldiers. He couldn’t get over how pretty Marron was, but he tried not to look at her. He grabbed the princess and dragged her out of the tent.
Pan was wriggling in the grasp of the spiky-haired man, but to no avail. He dragged her into the quarters of Prince Trunks and then dropped her at his feet. Pan struggled to stand, but she couldn’t with her arms tied behind her back. She looked up at the Prince with murder in her eyes.
"I want some answers," said Trunks looking down at her, "how many men-at-arms does your father keep at Son Castle?"
"I don’t know," said Pan, who knew perfectly well.
"Does he think I mean to attack him?" asked Trunks.
"I don’t know," said Pan again, glaring at the purple-haired prince,
"You had better answer me," said Trunks coldly, "Or I could always ask these questions of your friend,"
Pan’s eyes widened knowing that Marron would likely give out true answers, "Of course my father thinks you plan to attack him! Since I was little you’ve wanted to lay siege to the castle, and now you have an excuse!" Pan didn’t mean to tell him any truth, "You’re a monster! You’re just like your cold-blooded father who killed my grandfather!"
"How many men-at-arms does your father have?" asked Trunks ignoring her outburst.
"Two hundred," said Pan who knew there must be at least four hundred.
"You idiot!" said Trunks, "I could kill you with a slash of my sword and you still lie to me!"
"Even if I did know, do you expect me to willingly betray my father?!" Pan yelled up into his face, "and I haven’t seen my father for two years, so how should I know of his plans?"
"Why?" asked Trunks surprised. From what he had heard King Gohan loved his only daughter dearly.
"Because I…disobeyed him," said Pan bending her head down, "he sent me away as a punishment."
"What did you do?" asked Trunks who didn’t know why he cared.
"I refused to marry someone," Pan answered.
"So you haven’t seen your father in years, yet you risk your life to protect him?" asked Trunks amazed, "Why?"
"Because I despise you, and I despise everything you represent!" yelled Pan who was angry at him.
Trunks was beginning to admire her courage and loyalty, "Thank you. You may leave now," he said gesturing to the tent flap. Pan got to her feet and stomped out. Trunks signalled Uub to escort her to her tent.

When Pan got back to her tent she carefully studied the activities going on around the camp and formulated an escape plan. It was risky but it had to be done or else her father would have to surrender to Vegeta and Chikyuu would lose the battle. The only part of her plan she was worried about was if Marron would co-operate. Marron was known to chicken out.
"Marron, I’ve been thinking about an escape plan…" began the princess.
"Escape?" interrupted Marron, "how are we going to do that?"
"Listen…" said Pan and she revealed her crafty plan to her friend.
I know Trunks hasn’t gotten nice yet, but he will soon. I’ll have the next chapter out in a couple hours, or maybe tomorrow. Next time Pan and Marron escape. Please review!
