Sri Palghat R. Raghu
Sri Palghat R. Raghu is one of the most respected and renowned mridangists of all time. He was a child prodigy. Sri Raghu was inducted into the art of mridangam at an early age by his parents Sri Ramaswamy Iyer (Father) and Anathalakshmi Ammal (Mother). His grandfather Sri Radhakrishna Iyer was a musician and composer. He started training with Sri Tinniam Venkatrama Iyer in Rangoon, Burma. Later he trained with the mridangam legend Sri Palghat T.S. Mani Iyer in Palghat. He is considered the foremost disciple of Sri Mani Iyer.
