Irie Naoki
(Kashiwabara Takashi) in 'A' class,
has an IQ of 200 and is the genius of the school, and most probably the whole of Japan
too. He always gets full marks for all his tests and his name never fails to be the Number
1 on the scoreboard (except one time when he purposely hands in a blank script). Being
all-rounded, he is the star player of the basketball school team too. Undoubtedly, he also
happens to be the most popular guy in the school.
In the beginning, Naoki is quite moody and keeps very much to himself. It is also quite difficult to truly interprete his real feelings. He doesn't smile often and even appears arrogant in the beginning, especially in the first episode. Most of the time, he surveys the happenings around him with much indifference. He seems to treat Reiko just like an ordinary friend instead of anything beyond that. He also likes to call Kotoko 'baka' and asserts that they can never understand each other.
Because he can excel in everything he does, the lack of dreams has given him much distress. When he was in high school, he tried to steal a CD just to make himself feel 'normal'.
