Ani-Magic 2000 in Lancaster, CA was my first 'full' con haveing only attended one day of the tow previous year's Anime Expos. I was supposed to be going to AWA in Atlanta, but me quitting my job, my trip to Japan that summer, and my sister's wedding as soon as I returned from Japan, I was flat broke. I wasn't even going to go to Ani-Magic, until Dai-chan said that I could stay in her room. What a gal! Needless to say, I packed my Mars and Neptune costumes and made the 80 mile drive after work. AHHHHH! It took my four hours to make that drive. Damn rush hour traffic.Anyway, I arrived just in time for the gathering of the King of Fighter's cosplay! WhooHoo! I was just so thrilled to see that being a long time fighting game fan. Definately renewed my desire to make a "King" costume. Armed with my brand spanking new digital camera I took pictures, but I don't know where I saved them! Hahaha!! The next day I dressed in my Myu Neptune costume and endured the day in those shoes. After all the walking and blisters that I suffered through in Japan, those shoes didn't seem to bother me nearly as much as they did at Anime Expo a few months earlier. I still felt a bit strange when people wanted to take my picture. I was really glad that the dealer's room kinda stunk, since I had no money. (Hey, I had only returned from Japan about 3weeks prior and I just started a new job) It was really nice to see some familiar faces who I had met at Anime Expo again in a smaller setting. I got to share my Japan pictures of my 'experience' seeing the Sailor Moon musical live. The last day I wore my Sailor Mars costume. Again people wanted my picture. I told my mom that when I got home since she made the costume. Very strange to see my picture online. Now there's a name attached to it. EEEEEEKK! All in all, it was a nice little con. Quite nice for a first con, both for me and the con itself. I looked forward to the next year. |
